This is Butterlump at his 4th birthday party last month.
Been awhile since you’ve seen him, no?
Butterlump LOVES to draw. I keep pens and little notebooks in my purse so that when we go places he can sit and doodle to his heart’s content.
Like any mother would, I fuss over and praise all his little doodles, even though they resemble absolutely nothing.
Yesterday, he started drawing me a bunch of pictures and excitedly explained what each of them were.
Like always, they were just…random scribbles like this one:
Even though they don’t have any kind of understanding to me as an adult, they meant the world to him and so therefore, they mean the world to me.
THEN, he handed me another one of his drawings and said, “See, mama? It’s the sun and grass!”
And it WAS.
I could not have had my heart swell bigger than being allowed to see the milestone of this moment; where sense suddenly exists where there was none before.
I love my boys.
They will be great men.
