It’s that time of the year again, peeps!
“National Delurking Day!”
Which basically means it’s the day to make sure you come out from the shadows and pipe up in the comments!

It’s a fun bloggity tradition for the lurkers and the non-lurkers alike.
Blog commenting has taken quite a beating with the Social Media surge and this is just a day to ‘get back to basics’.
It’s just nice to see everyone and converse and I so hope you’ll talk to me. I’ll be hanging out and conversing with everyone and I’m excited about it.
I’m looking at it like “open mic night”. A day were we can talk about any and everything in the comments…it’s totally up to you and what you feel like chirping in with.
You can say anything!
Talk about anything!
Like what you’ve done this week that you’ve loved! Link to a great post you’ve read or a video you’ve seen on youtube! Or if you’ve read an interesting book! Or tell us what your favorite word is! Or talk about horrible that movie “Dear John” was! Or your favorite guilty pleasure! Or THANK GOODNESS it’s Girl Scout Cookie season! Or BOO! on the new Zodiac signs (WTF is an “Ophiuchus” ANYWAY?). Or how much you like pie!
You don’t have to be wordy!
(Although, you totally can if you want! I don’t judge.).
PIPE UP EVEN IF IT’S JUST TO SAY HELLO! (And feel free to snag the logo and participate on your blog! Leave me a link and I will certainly come by and say, ‘Howdy”!)
Let me know you’re there.
Please?
:)
OLLY OLLY OXEN FREE*!
*I love using this saying. It fits right in with my weirdo vernacular.

Hello!
How is your homeschooling going?
How do you like working and homeschooling and raising a baby and teenagers? Fun, right?
I am still not over Christmas – baking and all. Still have a gift or two to give!
Random – floating in my head – sorry!
Hello, Magan!!! I have been at appointments all day and am off to another one but I really wanted to start replying! I’ll finish when I’m back.(You people are freaking awesome, you know that?)
1. Homeschooling has been good. It’s been a bit hard this week with my car accident but we are still plugging away at it. I’ve loved having him here and teaching him.
2. IT. IS. HARD. BUT…I am finding that there are a lot of pluses to it as well. It’s nice to have an extra pair of hands to help with the baby. It makes managing it all easier.
3. I just made a double batch of my ‘no-chance-for-illness-because-it-has-no-eggs-in-it’ cookie dough, so I hear you on the baking!!
AND…I still have gifts to deliver as well!
I have commented here & there. But I really enjoy your blog. I laugh. I cry. And keep coming back for more!! Keep up the great work.
Oh, thank you!
I try to balance the deep and sad with the humorous and silly so that means a lot to me! Muwah!
So here I am! delurking! breaking out of my feed reader! All to tell you I love your blog and think you’re amazing.
Oh my word, it’s delurking day!? I better post before the end of the day, then!
Also, Elliora is an Ophiuchus. And my zodiac sign stayed the same, though I guess technically I could be considered an Aquarius OR a Pisces since the changeover date is my birthday!
I cannot grasp it. It means I would be a Libra, when I am pretty much the epitome of a Scorpio. Hmmm…
So… I’m delurking.
But I’m all confused… because at first I was like “HEY!!! I missed it AGAIN!!!” But then I was like “wait… it says 14th… and it’s only the 13th” So now I’m not sure if I should delurk now… or come back and delurk tomorrow.
Oh, and yes…. thank goodness it’s girl scout cookie season… cause I’m totally craving a thin mint.
;)
HA! I published it to hit at midnight but apparently my computer thinks I live in Kurdistan or somewhere. :)
<<Delurking :) i was around at the last delurking and don't think i ever delurked. this week has been pretty crappy ..nothing really to talk about. but i love your blog and love every time you pop up in my google reader.
BOO on weeks that suck. BOO, BOO, BOO! AND BOO SOME MORE! (Us people with crappy weeks must stick together, you know. :) )
Delurking! :)
Not that I usually lurk on your blog anyway, but nice to see you! I’m going to check out those new Zodiac signs. Apparently I’m now a Pisces, not an Aries. WTH?
Hope you are feeling better!
RIGHT?! Although, I get on very well with Pisces, which is good because apparently I chew up and destroy most people. Sigh.
I’m just here for the free ox.
OF COURSE YOU ARE.
I AM NOT AN AQUARIUS! I will always be a Pisces…don’t care what the stars say! (but that does explain how my ex never behaved like an Aquarius…)
commented occasionally here and on Facebook, but I love reading your stuff!
and how does one get the free ox Backpacking Dad speaks of???
I cannot imagine everyone is totally on board with this. I mean, who changed the rules? A committee? I am weirdly unhappy with it all.
Also, I think that getting a free ox must somehow involve BackPacking Dad and the hokey pokey.
Heh. I’m delurking, though I’m not sure I’m technically lurking.
I popped by a few years ago by way of a link from someone who had attended BlogHer in 2008 (I think.) That link led me right to your post about the Chronic Plagiarist, a situation so bizarre it just stuck with me. I kept meaning to become a regular reader, but for whatever reason never did.
As 2010 ground to a close I found myself thinking about the end of the Golden Age of Blogging (which peaked, apparently, in 2004 or so) and the disappearance of so many of the great old blogs I was reading when I first got interested in blogging. I got to wondering if there were any “life blogs” still being done out there. I remembered yours, did a search on the screen name of the person who was plagiarizing you, and found your blog in just a few steps. I added it to my “live updates” sidebar and have stopped by to check out each new post as it goes up.
Which brings us to here.
Also, the free oxen.
HAHAHAHAHA! You have officially become awesome in my book with this comment.
And FYI? If you have not been to that plagiarist thread? IT IS STILL GOING ON. I have heard from so many people she’s ripped off (from as far away as SCOTLAND)that it’s insane.
Someone commented just yesterday, in fact.
I am beginning to think people only love me for the free oxen.
Sob. ;)
Now I want to see this Chronic Plagiarist thread. I followed your rules and didn’t read the archives!
LOL! It is pretty horrible at the beginning. This is it…the comments are insane. That women is pretty horrible. I feel greatly for her kids.
http://loraleeslooneytunes.com/2008/07/15/hey-plagiarism/
Delurking. Not sure I’ve ever posted but have been a long time reader. I love reading your stuff.
Wait, there’s a free ox? Where, where? I want one.
I love that you popped in to say hello! EVEN IF YOU ONLY LOVE ME FOR THE FREE COW-LIKE ANIMAL!!!!! :D
I’m back and delurking again.
Is it still delurking if you’re commenting a 2nd time on the same post?
I’m glad I came back… I totally missed the free ox the first time. Glad Backpacking Dad pointed that out. I could use an ox.
My Delurking Day Post
Thanks for the link! I just commented! Muwah!
Hello!
OLA!
I don’t know if it is delurking if I comment on here all the time, but
HIIIIIIIIII!
You got me to try oatmeal at McDonalds yesterday. It was good. :)
(and I will borrow the logo, thankyouveryplease)
Is it not HEAVEN! I love it. xo
I Am NOT changing my damn sighn.they can kiss my ass!!!
RIGHT THERE WITH YOU.
I am a Scorpio, dammit!
Bonjour! So glad to have met you albeit briefly at blogher this summer. Your tutu was darling. :)
Thanks! And good meeting you as well! It was so adorable. I LOVE the women that made it.
rofl, hi Loralee! Hi everybody! I’m a twentysomething in Southern Illinois. I have a fine arts degree. It hasn’t done much for me in this economy. Right now I sell shoes at a department store. But on the brighter side: I have a bf (well, fiancé really, but I’m lazy when I type), a house, and two crazy cats.
I love reading this blog because Loralee makes me cackle witchily. She also has made me cry like a fountain, and I don’t cry that easy. She tugs at my heartstrings so often that she has made a definite imprint on my soul. I would just love to be her friend in real life. But considering my lack of blogginess and my being way over in the midwest, this is unlikely. So I’ll easily and happily settle for commenting on her fb and blog and just trying to be supportive when times are kicking her tuckus. I also support her Diet Coke love even though it tastes like malted battery acid to me. :P Artificial sweetener is like a cloying sicky death to my tastebuds.
Anyways, Loralee! I heart you, you fantastic lady you! I hope you are feeling much better and will continue swiftly to being back to your lovely busy self. :)
Sincerely,
Mila, though you know me through fb as Milica :)
Can I pay you with Double Stuffed Oreos and just have you come live at my house? Because seriously, I love every single thing about this comment. You rocketh the house, dear. xo
hi, i lurk here a lot. i love your blog!
HI! I just commented on your blog! Thanks for piping up! xo
Hey! How’s the new car? I’m totally in the market for one and am starting to gather info. Hope you’re feeling better after the accident!
Can I delurk if I wasn’t lurking? ;)
Something weird and funny (sort of) happened to me today. I was stranded in my apartment! We have a stupid lock that can be locked from outside in the way you can’t unlock it from inside. Today, my flatmate left the apartment and locked me inside, so I couldn’t get out xD I had to stay home and miss some classes (French Literature, which is not bad, because I also forgot to read Claudel’s play which was assigned for today). By now, my flatmate is back, but still… can’t stop laughing. Good thing she hasn’t already left for the weekend, though, I’d be stranded in the apartment for three days xD
hugs,
Amy.
You got locked inside your apartment?! OMG! You poor thing! Is there any way to prevent that in the future?
Also, I need to take a moment and say how much I’ve loved your comments over the years. Getting a peek into Polish culture has been awesome. :) xo
It wasn’t that bad, I got to go back to sleep x) We’re renting the apartment so we can’t really do anything about the lock, we just need to remember to lock the doors using the other lock (we have two, one that can be ulock from inside and one that can’t) when one of us stays at home :)
I love that too; aside from the pure awesomeness of your blog as it is, it was also a really great opportunity to compare our two cultures and societies with a sense of reality (which I can’t get just watching movies or tv shows; there’s always and artificial edge to them); it’s amazing for me how much they are different and similar in the same time; how can it be even possible? I wish I could once come to USA. Anyway, I’m glad you’re enjoying me commenting, sometimes I get the feeling I’m talking too much xD (Much like just now, so I’m shutting my mouth already ;D).
hugs,
Amy.
Heck,no! I love your comments. You always have the most interesting questions and things to say…I love it! xo
I randomly comment, but I’ll “delurk” for today.
I did a happy dance in the produce section today because our store had fresh strawberries for cheap. (Imported from Egypt. Fun fact of the day) I hate frozen strawberries, and have been craving strawberry stuffed french toast.
Also? I haven’t seen the sun since last Saturday, causing me to hate Germany even more than I did last Friday.
Egypt?! Really? Wow. And I am envious. I CRAVE really good and fresh produce in the winter. Sniff.
Where are you in Germany?
Ramstein. I’m one of those weird Air Force wives.
I’m here, I sometimes comment, but I was thrilled to meet you at blogher.
That was totally one of the highlights for me! You were so fun and PRETTY! Can’t wait to see you again. Are you going to BlogHer this year?
It’s national delurking day? Why didn’t I hear about this sooner! I’m not sure if I’ve left a reply on this blog, even though I read it regularly. Shame on me!
There shall be no shame on Loralee’s Looney Tunes! (Unless you admit to the fact that you love Vanilla Ice. THEN THERE SHALL BE SHAME HEAPED UPON YOU!)
:D
Does it count as lurking of you comment infrequently but you do comment?!?
Ah well, whatever.
Happy de-lurking day!
M
That totally counts! And you don’t have to just lurk to pipe up, either! I always remember you because you spell your name exactly like another friend of mine! xo
Ok, here is an interesting video about The McGurk Effect. Not as awesome and the cats playing patty cake … but quite interesting. How is homeschooling going? The thought of that makes me want to go lie down and stuff chocolate in my mouth.
cheers
That was pretty wild. (And I often do. Only it’s usually cookie dough instead of chocolate. ;))
I did it! http://bit.ly/gJXwOR
One of your most ardent fans EVER!!!!
If you don’t already know it, I ADORE YOU. I will never forget the first time you commented on my blog!!!! Swoon. :)
Can I tell the world on delurking day how I actually saw you after you had a drink at CheeseburgHer this past year and you petted my cheek and told me how pretty I was. Then you told me about how you don’t drink at all and this is what happens when you don’t and my goodness I am laughing just remembering it.
I love you girlie and I am excited to be able to possibly see you this month at Blissdom.
I will post today, just haven’t yet.
Bwahahahaha! I LOVE when people relay “Loralee Stories”. They warm my heart. And it is TOTALLY understandable that I would pet your cheek and say you are pretty because you ARE! Would love to see you in Nashville! xo
I just called… to say… I love you
Dude, do you remember that video from one of his songs where the girl was blind and made a weirdo clay bust of The Lionel complete with clay afro-mullet? HILARITY.
I just called… to say how much I care.
(Stealing your badge for my blog, if you don’t mind!)
I’m a lurker. I admit it. I can’t remember where I found your blog, but I’m glad I did. I love it! I’m a ‘new’ blogger. I don’t ever expect to be a famous blogger, but it’s helping me break out of my comfort zone.
Oh, I am so glad! Blogging can be a great way to expand your horizons and open yourself up to new experiences! xo (P.S. my sympathies on the shoe size. I get it!)
Delurking from Michigan!! Although I’ve composed comments to you in my head several times, I’m too lazy to leave my Google Reader!!
THRILLED that this prompted you to come out from behind the reader!!!!!
Umm, I leave a comment on a very rare occassion so I have to admit that I would consider myself a lurker. Sounds kinda dirty. And I’ll pass on the oxen. Don’t have a clue what to feed them and I know for sure I don’t want to clean up after one. Thanks anyway.
Dirty-oxen-free-lurking.
Dig it. :)
I feel like I should comment more, but I do read. So hi!
I LOVE your hair color. Is it natural?
As someone who isn’t capable of lurking because I’m too much of a freakin’ loudmouth, I just want to thank all of Loralee’s lurkers for, as they say, representin’.
LOL! I love you, David. My blog would be a very boring place if you kept quiet!! xo
Delurking also! Greetings from sunny but cold Florida!! Now, I have to get back to work..
I’ve heard it’s freezing there. (Well, freezing for y’all that is. My car doors are frozen shut every morning. :) )
I’m a faithful reader. Unfortunately not so much a faithful commenter. I’ll try to get better at that! I am so glad that I’m not the only one who hated “Dear John”. Went on a girls night out with my best friends and I’m the only one who didn’t love it! I was beginning to think something was wrong with me!
I seriously wanted to stick a fork in my eye when I watched it. BARF! The only cool (but also sad) part was seeing the guy who played Elliot in ET.
I have been crying since I found out I am no longer an Aquarius. How do I explain my love of water, and my wild and crazy personality? How do I explain my emotional side without being an Aquarius?? I am so lost. So, so lost. For almost 34 years I have identified with my fellow Aquarians, and now…now I have just been kicked to the curb and am suddenly a Capricorn. A Capricorn of all things.
Oh and to rub salt into my wound…my husband is now an Aquarius. Whatever. He is SO not the personality of an Aquarius.
*sigh* I think I need to go eat some Ben and Jerry’s now.
Kim – I read this morning that the whole sign thing was a misunderstanding and our Aquarius status is still intact!
Not that you STILL couldn’t go eat Ben & Jerry’s anyway. You know. Should you want to…
http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/01/13/no-your-zodiac-sign-hasnt-changed/
It’s true! WHEW!
Oh I can sleep SO much better tonight. But there went my great blog post that I had in my head. Eh, it’s ok, at least I can still be the emo/romantic/water baby I was born to be :)
Hahahahahahahahah! I feel your pain. Hello, could I be anything BUT a scorpio? I THINK NOT.
I’ve commented here or there but I mostly lurk. I have your post about weight loss surgery bookmarked because I’m considering surgery for myself and it was such a great and honest post.
Thank you! Your comments have been appreciated and I love it when you pipe up! And let me know if you decide to go ahead with the surgery! It’s tough but it absolutely saved my life. xo
I don’t think of myself as a lurker. I prefer lazy ass commenter, it’s a whole lot less sketchy.
You never fail to make my freaking day, woman!
Not a total lurker, have occasionally left comments here. Now stopping by to say hello, procrastinating when I should be writing my own delurking day post.
Because as a gal with raging ADD? Procrastinating is what I do best, you might even say it is my one true natural talent. That and talking too fast without stopping for a breath.
I even emulate that on my blog sometimes, earning me the title: “Queen of the run-on sentence (with parenthetical clause).”
I procrastinate with the best of them, so I get you. Also, I am fond of run on sentences. (And parenthesis!) ;)
Here! And very disturbed over the fact that I’m not an Aquarius anymore, apparently.
http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/01/13/no-your-zodiac-sign-hasnt-changed/
NO! LIES! ALL LIES!!! :)
Okay okay. I’m a wicked lurker here. I read everything you write but I don’t remember the last time I commented!
I want to turn that into a tshirt “Wicked Lurker of Loralee’s Looney Tunes”.
Totally awesome!
I’ve commented a few times. I’m Tracy who is originally from that little town in between Logan and Brigham City, called Mantua.
I just drank my first Diet Dr Pepper in 3 days. That is the longest I have gone without it in years! I know you like Diet Coke but I am sure you can imagine how awesome it was to take that first swig!
About the zodiac signs. I just saw on CNN that you can ignore the whole, “have to change your sign” thing.I don’t have the link handy but if you sift through all the real news, it’s there somewhere! ;) That’s good because I do not fit the Capricorn personality as well as I fit the Aquarius personality.
Anyhoo, have a happy “delurking” day!
The Mantua reservoir often makes all the driving I do in that canyon worth it.
And heck, YES I understand your pain. Mmm…Diet Coke…
Okay, I found the link:
http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/01/13/no-your-zodiac-sign-hasnt-changed/?hpt=Sbin
Thank you so much for this! (I am not totally fond of being a Scorpio as it is often full of YOU ARE A RUPTURING VOLCANO OF EMOTION!!!” but I would hate to be anything different!
I do pop in and comment on occasion, but I think it has been a while. So…HI THERE! How’s it going!?
Pretty swell!
Well, I DID just get foot zoned and was told I have a ‘traumatized uturus” but other than that, I’m doing dandy!
I’m like a half asses lurker. I comment when I remember to. Which is so not often cause I am so super lazy. I’m also participating in de-lurking day, but my post isn’t up yet . . . like I said.
SNORT!
If I just get to say what I want, then I want to say thank you. I first “met” you on day one of my blog, on twitter, and you took the time to tweet someone with 5 little “followers”.
The blog nearly ended for good on day 4, and I noticed you were “following” someone with 6. little. followers. You – Loralee were following a blog nobody. Why? Nothing to gain, just niceness. Niceness is good.
And I get to read your every post – and I get to smile because funny flows freely from your words – and in between the words. And the Wilbur thing hurt – I didn’t like that. And a piece of your heart moving far away – that hurt. And I didn’t like it when you slipped on ice, or when you’re air bags deployed. But I’m really happy I got to read about it all.
I’ve been blessed by a woman who “followed” this blog nobody – just because of nice – and niceness is good.
So if I just get to say exactly what I want. I want to say Thank You.
THANK YOU RIGHT BACK for reminding me why I love blogging and social media. The community that can be built is just too awesome for words. :)
Hey Craig, I follow your blog because of your comments on Loralee’s blog. It’s all about ‘connecting’! :)
Ugh. Half assed. Not half asses. I haven’t had my morning caffeine yet.
I wish I has half asses. I need less ass.
I will take half of your ass. I TOTALLY NEED IT!!!
I am a lurker…I read your blog everyday, but never leave comments because I always get nervous that my comment will sound stupid or come across the wrong way. But I do have to say that I love your blog! You are an amazing person. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Oh, NEVER get nervous to pipe up! NEVER! I am the most laid back person ever and I’d love to hear what you have to say! I loved to hear this! YAY! xo
Hi, my name is Angi, and I’m dating a lurker. Is there a powder for that?
LOL. You might have to get them into a 12-step program, too.
