Sunday links: Pillows and Websites and Corpse Brides! Oh, MY!

October 24, 2010

I missed out on Sunday links last week as I was up to my ears in painting and organizing our school room, but I am back! Here are some things that have caught my eye in my Internet surfing the last couple of weeks.

If I sewed, I would TOTALLY make this adorable pillow set of the seasons. TOTALLY.

It’s been 6-weeks since I helped deliver my nephew in an emergency birth. This is little the little one on his birthday.

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law came up to visit with the baby and I thought you’d want to see how much the little chubmeister has GROWN. He is SUCH a little love.

The website for my work is finally up. YAY! I love the design. It’s been a lot of hard work and I know I posted about it already, but our launch time was not the best (Friday afternoon) so I am trying to make up for the inferior time by yapping a lot about it. And I can’t help it…I’m like a proud parent. (Plus, you know…it’s also my job. )  I’m uber excited to start featuring the women in our magazine! (That happens the first week of December starting with our cover, Ree Drummond, “The Pioneer Woman”. ) Would love it if you’d head over and let me (and my boss *cough, cough* know what you think!) :)

Speaking of Ree…why don’t y’all rustle up some of her Skillet Cornbread. (It. is. TASTY.)

I adore Jane Austen. And BBC’s version of Emma is one of my very favorites. All the segments are here, if you care to view them :)

I love Jon Stewart with the power of a thousand burning suns. This photo pretty much sums up WHY. (And I totally want this on a tshirt.)

Daily Show

I have a weird thing for abandoned places and the Web Urbanist has a whole section on various abandoned places by categories like towns, schools, military bases, aircraft, ships…I could browse around for hours.

I laughed so hard at this post I pretty much stopped breathing for a good few minutes.

Because, really, can anything be weirder and more hilarious than someone offering Brett Favre a job in PENIS PUPPETRY??!!! (I sooooo wish I were making this up, but no. No, I’m not.)

And in a much cleaner, but just as hilarious recount, my great pal Tanis recounts the purchase of her newest, er…toy. ;)

And since we’re on this line of thought anyway, check out one of the best spoof sites I’ve seen in awhile: http://furnitureporn.com/ (The age warnings and agreements at the beginning slay me.)

It’s my last week of being an LG Text-Ed ambassador! I have had a lot of fun and some money was made for a great cause. I hope you’ll check out this last week’s section on teens and the dangers of Sexting. (OY VEY)

Someone actually built, and lives in, a Hobbit House. Obsessed, much?

Speaking of obsession, a sculptor in the UK spent thousands of hours and 15 years sculpting a recreation of Nelson’s ship, the HMS Victory, out of one of its oak beams. AMAZING.

18 Funniest costumes to get arrested in. This is my favorite:

In honor of Halloween I thought I’d put up this clip from The Corpse Bride.  One of the weirdest compliments I’ve gotten is that I reminded people of the title character. Which is funny as I relate to her, oddly. And this little tidbit is my very favorite scene. (LOVE the song, too.)

As always on Sunday links day, comments are always welcome, but I’d much rather you spend your time and energy exploring new sites!
Till next week, y’all!

After months of toil, sweat and tears…

MY WORK WEBSITE IS FINALLY UP!!!!

Yes, the thing that has given me (another) ulcer the last few weeks just launched minutes ago. We are a bit behind schedule (thus the back dating of posts) and there are a couple things that still need tweaking but man, Advent Creative did an amazing job.

I am not surprised at all…they designed this place, so I knew it would be awesome.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE NEW DIGS, Y’ALL??

Stumble it!

Suddenly, IT ALL MAKES SENSE.

Yup.

Ta-da!

Well, it definitely puts perspective on the last week.

And once again, it totally surprised me.

I know, right?

Considering that I have been doing this monthly for a good TWO DECADES of my life, you would THINK that I would realize that there just MIGHT be a physiological contributing factor behind the EMO, mood-swinging pile of WENCH-BUCKET-SUCKIT-NESS that I can sometimes turn into for a good week of the month, wouldn’t you?

And yet? It’s almost always a damn surprise.

“So THAT is why I suddenly spouted 4 heads and cried and argued with everything from my husband to that lamp post the other day!”

(What?! I’ll have you know that lamp post was standing there very aggressively and FLICKERING AT ME!!!! )

Duh.

And?

My true apologies to y’all-that-have-been-smited-by-my-aforementioned-wench-bucket-suckit-ness.

I owe you big time.

xo.

P.S. Sorry, peeps (and mom). I know you are still recovering from my repeated use of the term “Brazilian Wax” on my blog. I pinky swear that I will refrain posting about ANYTHING descriptive of girl bits and their functions for a really, really long time.

:)
