I’m here alone on Christmas day because I am sick.
I mean SICK sick.
The kind of sick that makes you have to gear up and brace yourself for the pain of swallowing your own spit every time you swallow or beg for a freaking catheter so you don’t have to try to move your body to get out of bed because you feel like you have been hit by a train, then run over by a tractor, then peed on by the guy driving the tractor, sick.
It sucks a stuffy, sick little duck my friends.
I sent Jonathan and the boys to our friends house for our annual Christmas afternoon and evening of games and dinner because this is miserable and I want them to have fun today.
So, I am here by myself. Without any of my friend Brigitte’s AMAZING BUTTER ROLLS. (Seriously, I look forward to them EVERY YEAR. I could eat pans and pans of them all by myself.)
It’s lonely and melancholy, and I have had a lot of moments of self pity today, I won’t lie.
Still…even sick and on my own on my favorite holiday of the year, there is a lot to be thankful for today. This is the most important of the many:
I love them so much.
I’m now officially worn out, so I am going to go crash and try to get some sleep.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Oh no Lady. I know how much you were looking forward to Christmas this year too. ((((hugs)))) Hopefully you’ll be better by New Year.
We opened presents at 6 am because I had been up all night hurling and with a fever.
It blows.
And I was supposed to go to SLC tomorrow.
Yeah. Not happening.
:(
Thanks for the love, everyone. It helps. xo
Did I also mention that my friend Brigitte makes THE MOST AMAZING BUTTER ROLLS EVER AND I AM MISSING OUT ON THEM?
It makes me weep.
:(
Aw, you are right. Being sick on Christmas does indeed suck. Feel better…..soon!
although i’m not sick, i’m home alone (well, with 2 little ones) while my husband is enjoying roast beast & Yorkshire pudding at our aunt & uncle since the boy decided to pick christmas to be a huge pain in the behind. did i mention my husband is jewish? yea.
That sucks huge balls, but man, are those boys CUTE!
Hope you’re on the mend soon and able to enjoy some family time. Lots of love from this little corner of the blog o’sfear.

I love the pic of your boys! I am sorry you are home sick. Sending you tons of hugs and get better vibes.
Being sick on Christmas blows. Come to think of it, being sick blows in general but missing out on fun holidays makes it even worse.
Hope you feel better SOON!!
Merry Christmas!!
I am so sorry to hear that you feel so badly today. Be well, sweet girl. Merry Christmas.
I’m sorry. That does suck a duck.
We’re in similar situations. I’m sitting here, post second surgery in two weeks. Not the Christmas I envisioned…
OH! I am so sorry. Surgery is horrible. I hope you feel better soon, babe. xo
I hope you feel better soon! Merry Christmas!
You all are being so kind. Especially for a lame blogger that has not posted a lot this holiday season.
It’s cheering me up immeasurably.
THANK YOU.
xo
Feel better, babe. Oh, and post that recipe for those butter rolls, wouldja?
Awww, I hope you feel better!
Loralee…
Get well soon. I hope you like the bag full of rolls I sent home for you.
Missives…
I’ll have to type of the roll recipe. When I do I’ll pass it on to Loralee for all of you.
Aw, poor you.
Get feeling better soon, I command thee! DEVILS COME OUT!
(((HUGS))) Loralee!!! You should totally get a do-over on the butter rolls.
So not fun for you. :(
Hope you’re feeling better real soon and it’s just a 24hour bug (though with hurling all night it should be out by now!).
And enjoy the rolls Bridge sent home for you!
Oh, I’m so sorry!! Get better quickly so we can play!
gee, you’re too sick to enjoy your family while i spent most of my christmas trying to avoid mine. lol. the biggest gift this year were havanese puppies. 3 of them. one for my oldest nephew, one for his sister, and one for my youngest niece and nephew. while cute, i would have preferred something potty trained.
cute picture of your boys. but i think the big one is missing! too bad jonathon wasn’t in the photo with his jammies on.
the tree is gorgeous!
p.s. going back to the picture of the boys…can i have the one in the middle? he’s just too precious.
I had a very sick Christmas a few years ago, and pushed myself into traveling and visiting family.
Actually I ended up so sick that I passed out cold in my bathroom a few days later and was on antibiotics for weeks after that. I hope that your Hubs brought you back some butter rolls and that you feel better today.
Oh and I LOVE the pic of the boys! They look so happy (I love the smiley face pj pants, lolol)
Ugh, hope you feel better soon, I know it really sucks to be sick on Christmas. Last Christmas we were in Oregon to spend the holiday with my family for the first time since I was pregnant with my now 5 1/2 yo. The first week the kids and I were there it snowed like crazy for Western Oregon and we were pretty much stuck at my mom’s not able to see any of my friends or extended family. When my husband drove up the first 550 miles of his drive were uneventful but the last 50 miles took about 24 hours (luckily he did get to hole up in a motel for the night) due to the snow plows getting stuck on the drifts of ice & snow that had built up on the freeway lanes. Christmas Eve and morning were nice at my mom’s and then we headed to my dad’s for further festivities. My stepmom is an AWESOME cook yet I didn’t feel like eating much…the reason why became apparent in early evening when I began a round of diarrhea and vomiting that continued almost non-stop for the next 24 hours. I was lying on the living room floor so as to be close to the bathroom and people were having to step over me. Not only did I have to miss the reunion dinner with four of my high school buddies AND the trip to the museum but I infected most of my family. Ok, thanks for letting me get that whining out of my system. Hope you are getting some curative sleep right now.
I am so sorry you are miserable. BUT, enjoy the peace and quiet and get a few extra hours of much needed sleep! I love you!
HONEY! So sorry you’re feeling rough!
If we were neighbors (and we should be) I would bring you some tomato soup (which cures almost everything) and some very special brownies (laced with very special painkillers) and act out random scenes from all of my crazy family Christmas parties to entertain you.
See what you’re missing? BTW – house down the street from us is for sale. Just sayin’…
I’m so sorry you’re sick. I hope you feel better soon and I hope someone thought to bring home some of Brigitte’s amazing butter rolls for you.
Hope you feel better soon, sweetie.
I hear you girl. I spent the holiday weekend sick too. Still coming out of it actually. I will admit to not being quite as bad as you seem to be, but it sucks none the less. Feel better soon!
