This is my entry for Citizen of the Month’s 4th annual bloggity Christmahanukwanzaakah Online Holiday Concert. (All the links posted on Sunday, I believe)
I have been a bad, bad blogger.
In fact, when I tried to log into WordPress it told me it changed its phone number and is withholding “relations” and making me sleep on the couch until I buy it jewelry and grovel in penance for my behavior.
Sigh.
Real life stuff has been getting in the way round these parts.
And I can talk about, oh…NONE OF IT ONLINE. (Except for the fact that I have a pinched nerve in my shoulder that is about to drive me to drink. THAT I can bitch talk about for a very, VERY long time.)
I also have other stuff besides life and family taking my time and attention.
Christmas is a VERY busy season for singers and this year is kicking my vocal tail.I have a LOT of performances and rehearsals on my schedule this year. Luckily, what I do is SO MUCH FREAKING FUN that it makes the killer schedule worth it. I am also thankful to earn a bit of money from doing something I love and to stay busy and occupied.
One of my favorite gigs I have during the year is with a group of carolers that go around singing for private parties, functions, etc.
They are a stellar group of people and singers and they put up with my love of the word “RAD” and all of my other wee, weird little ways. It’s ok…they have a sense of humor.
See?
The costumes are rad. Even at 35, I STILL love twirling around like a 3-year-old. Fortunately for everyone I have outgrown my need to show everyone my ruffle butt underwear after I finish my spinning orgy of child-like glee.
Well…I THOUGHT I had outgrown it. Tonight I apparently couldn’t resist showing off the UTTER SEXY that is underneath this straight laced Victorian garb. (Seriously, everyone wants to tap this. For reals.)
I get requests to post videos of me singing all the time. I usually don’t because I have an inferior video camera, but I thought I’d put this warm up video of all of us up anyway, quality be damned.
It’s from “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” and it’s one of my favoritest pieces we do. It may not be our most vocally impressive piece but I have loved this song since I was little and it’s just so freaking much fun to sing. Plus, it’s nice to use a lighter, less classical sound.
There’s a little glitch in the middle. Some lovely woman from Idaho was recording it for us and she thought we were done
Also, it speaks VOLUMES about my vanity that I take my glasses off when I realize I’m still wearing them a few seconds into the video. I can feel like utter crap and STILL find a reason to be vain.
Hey, I am a narcissist blogger, what can I say?
And if the glasses were not enough proof, the end of the video should TOTALLY prove that one for ya.
Heh.
Hope you like it, peeps. It sure was a lot of fun for me to do.

Cute cute cute.
I love that song too, beautiful job! (Hey, that’s the Emporium. Does it still smell like something died in the basement?)
You can sing girl!!!!! I miss your posts nut as you say, sometimes there are things you just can’t say. Hugs and thanks for sharing your voice and uber gorgeous muff!
er, where I wrote “nut” i actually meant “but.” In no way did I mean to imply you were or are “nuts.”
I’m going away now ;)
I love that big finish, you all sound beautiful!
I’m honored to have heard that voice in person- gorgeous!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
You guys sound wonderful and those costumes are totally RAD!! What does a girl have to do to get herself one of THOSE?! : )
I’m blown away by the… the… the utter RADness. Seriously cool video, and I’m writhing in jealousy over your ability to sing so prettily AND wear a hand warmer thingie with such panache. But I now want a period costume, too. Glad I found your blog! :)
YOU are the most expressive of that group of singers – and, of course, the end CLEARLY demonstrates that.
That was so cool Loralee. I loved the finish!!!!!!
My little Amelia was so excited to see “Miss Loralee” on the computer and had a huge smile on her face the whole time watching this.
Love you friend. You rock.
That was beautiful! I love that song – it’s my favourite part of the movie. :) Love the “ta daaaa!” at the end. HEE!
I wanna join that group! It looks so fun!!
So, so fun! I want to carol again. You look like you’re having such a great time.
Dude. You’re awesome and hilarious.
OH! That is one of my favorite songs! It was wonderful, thank you so much for posting that. I love christmas music, sadly my voice sucks but I sing anyway.
That was really lovely :-)
That just made my day. I’ve missed hearing you sing.
I don’t think we ever grow out of that twirling stage.
And I’m really really bummed you didn’t sing me bedtime lullabies at BlogHer.
Sounds great! Are you singing alto or soprano Loralee?
LOVE!!!
This is pretty much the best thing ever.
Totally rad. Totally.
My kids have requested to watch this video again. If you see your hit counter go up and up, it’s us. Darn you. ;)
That was fabulous!
and you all sound better than the folks on Sing Off.
That was so BEAUTIFUL!!!
Goosebumps! I’m so jealous.
My 3 yr old daughter just listened to it three time with the biggest smile on her face – “Thats the gwinch song!” she said. I’m bookmarking this entry so we can come back and listen alot more. So beautiful.
btw – if you want a mostly great online chrismas channel to listen to, go to king.org and click on the Christmas Channel. Its really nice.
