The ABC’s of me

October 13, 2009

Confession: I LIKE MEMES.

Seriously, I know that many turn their noses up at them, but not me.

I saw this one from  Melain (a SERIOUSLY beautiful person who owns one of the most lovely Coach bags I have ever seen) and liked it.

I know I have other posts that need to be written and there may be lonely crickets chirruping in the comments section but honestly, it’s been a hell of a week and even though everyone is doing SO much better, I’m still in the suck of whiplash and feel like I am thinking through a pillow with these muscle relaxers, so writing a post is beyond me at the moment. I like memes but loathe tagging so go ahead and participate if you want in the comments or on your own blog, tell me if we have anything in common or just ignore it. Whatever makes you happy, my peeps.

THE ABC’S OF ME

A – ADVOCATE FOR: Kindness and non-asshat behavior on the internet, gay marriage, health care reform and bringing the classic junior high school taunt “RENOB” back into the common vernacular.

B – BEST FEATURE: I can be funny. Also, my eyes and “the girls” are pretty dang awesome.

C – COULD DO WITHOUT: Cankles, and having the muscle tone of headcheese, asthma, back injury and general health suck, and crushing debt. Also, I really would like to petition for Muzak to be eradicated from the earth.

D – DREAMS & DESIRES: They’re pretty simple- I’d like a comfortable home, enough money to have the necessities and some fun extras for my family, good health, deep love and friendship. If all that is too much I’d settle for just having some peace.

E – ESSENTIAL ITEMS: Diet Coke (duh), something sweet, music, lipstick/gloss, mascara, pajama pants, long sleeve tissue-weight tshirts, cell phone, laptop, internet.

F – FAVORITE PAST TIME: SLEEPING, I lurve all things about blogging (except for shitty people you encounter. The only down side of it). I adore reading and being with people. (Though I hermit often), and honestly? I love TV. It’s a dirty word to people but it’s a lovely escape. I probably escape too much, but it’s just who I am.

G – GOOD AT: I’m a decent cook, a great singer, an adequate writer. I have an amazing ability to pull things off when I really, really want to and almost always find something genuinely interesting about the person I’m conversing with. I can almost always make you smile.

H – HAVE NEVER TRIED: Going organic or really anything, “Crunchy”. I’m curious about it, but the options for doing so where I live aren’t that awesome. Also…I would love to make a goal to be very healthy and stick to it for an entire year with the hope that it turns into a lifetime habit. I am very bad at it.

I – IF I HAD A MILLION DOLLARS: Pay off debt, buy a house, pay back my parents for all their kindness and invest the rest. If there’s enough left over, I would take my entire family on a really great vacation together.

J – JUNKIE FOR: Aside from Diet Coke, I love eating Golden Grahams and Cracklin Oat Bran by the handful out of the box, and usually obsess about a “Treat” that I rotate from time to time. Currently, it would be Hostess SnowBalls.

K – KINDRED SPIRIT: I’ve been blessed to have people in my life who like me exactly as I am. Also, I think that all babies and I have a deep understanding.

L – LITTLE KNOWN FACT: I’m an identical twin. I don’t talk about her here because it’s not the greatest relationship. I also skipped the 3rd grade.

M – MEMORABLE MOMENT: The birth of my kids, the first time I soloed in front of an orchestra, looking up and seeing Big Ben unexpectedly when I stepped out of the underground, realizing I had just been invited to The White House, having a picnic in a car wash. All were amazing.

N – NEVER AGAIN WILL I: Try to give birth without an epidural. It about killed me. Also, I will never again attempt to be a blond or have boy short hair. It’s just wrong.

O – OCCASIONAL INDULGENCE: I will do something pampering like a massage, pedicure and/or facial. It is HEAVENLY and can turn my mood around like magic. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE splurging on a great restaurant.

P – PROFESSION: Mom, blogger, singer, thinker of silly thoughts.

Q – QUOTE: “I don’t even own a piece of shit, I have to envy yours”  (SAVE FERRIS!)

R – REASON TO SMILE: The snoring little baby laying next to me that is FINALLY sounding so much better, going out for Indian Food with my husband and a long awaited email in my inbox.

S – SORRY ABOUT: Being a shitty friend with a short attention span, hurting others and being a too laid back mom and horrible house keeper. Also, I would personally like to apologize to my college room mates for playing “Calling Baton Rouge” by Garth Brooks on repeat eleventyBILLION times.

T -THINGS THAT ARE WORRYING YOU RIGHT NOW: My friend Sandi is adopting the sibling of her littlest, Ellie. Sailor Grace was born yesterday in Salt Lake and they had to life flight her to Primary Children’s Hospital. We are all terribly worried. Please keep her in your thoughts and pray for them. NO mother should go through that with her baby. It’s beyond terrifying.

I’m also worried about money and bills and loved ones, but that isn’t exactly new.

U – UNINTERESTED IN: Sports. I can’t stand them. I don’t mind going to live games, but really…I could so live without them. I’ve also never been terribly interested in crafts, though I admire those that have that kind of tactical skill.

V – VERY SCARED OF: Spiders, flying, heights, the dark, failure, and people dying and/or leaving.

W – WORST HABITS: Being a crappy housekeeper and totally sucking at laundry. I have a rather dependent personality and I’m increasingly self focused. Those things blow.

X – X MARKS MY IDEAL VACATION SPOT: THE UK. I loved it. Adored it. Want to marry it and have little UK flag babies. I love to travel and research a place. Knowing all the little nueances of a place adds to the exhiliration and thrill of visiting.  Next up: Italy.

Y – YUMMIEST DESSERT: There was this amazing pudding in Inverness, Scotland that my friend, Chelle ordered. After that, the chocolate mousse I ordered at Circus Circus in Reno was AMAZING. The most unusual but devine dessert I had was at Retro Bakery in Las Vegas…Maple Bacon Cupcakes. YUMMMY. If you are in Vegas and have a chance to visit, I highly recommend going to visit.

Z – ZODIAC SIGN: Scorpio. My horoscope often just makes me want to stay in bed. The is the weirdest sign out of them all, IMO. One minute we’re cold as ice and solitary as an oyster, the next we’re the life of the party and passionate as all get out. It’s exhausting, really.

WHAT ARE THE ABC’S OF YOU?
