10 things that have been going on lately. (If I can’t do any better then a bullet list of what is happening in my life for a blog post I am certainly not capable of coming up with a pithy title for it. Just so you know.)

October 6, 2009

I’m flinging a list at you to update on just a few things of the things that have been going on that I can actually write about. (I know most of them suck. I don’t want to whine perpetually on you all, it’s just how things are right now.)

1. Right now Jonathan is at the emergency room with our son, James. He cut his hand on a broken glass and he will definitely need stitches. Blood was everywhere and it looked BAD. Poor guy.  He is a trooper. It’s killing me to be here at home but I am sick and so is the little butterball and he shouldn’t be in an ER. And with everything we’ve gone through lately, I don’t think going into the same ER that my son died in with my sick little baby would be a good choice right now.

**UPDATE: He had to have 6 stitches that pretty much takes up the ring finger of his dominant hand. It looks like a C and I’ve threatened to call him “Coraline”. Or FrankenFinger.  I told him to take comfort that he can now say he has “an old dishwashing injury”. ;P

Oh, and Christopher was just sent home from school this morning and  looks like he has elephantitus of the eyeball. Gotta love Pink Eye, people.

2. We’re all sick. I have other stuff going on but have now caught the raging HUD that has consumed everyone else. I also have raging PMS on top of it, which hardly seems fair. It caught me unawares. Again. I have experienced Mother Nature’s “Precious Posies of Procreation” since I was 12 years old. At this point I am kind of a pro at it, so you would think that I would not be surprised by my period EVERY SINGLE FLIPPING MONTH.

And yet?

I am.

The sheer number of times I have woken up and exclaimed, “OH! So THAT’S why I suddenly sprouted four heads and DESTROYED everyone in my path with raging rays of BITCHITUDE yesterday! Duh!” is just embarrassing, people.

It hasn’t helped AT ALL lately.

Just sayin’…

3. Aaron’s doctor appointment went so much better than expected. The kid is still monster sick and so miserable, but his oxygen levels are so much better than we thought and HIS LUNGS ARE GOOD THUS FAR!  You’d never know it to listen to him hacking but it’s true. Also, even though he is really congested, the mucous is clear which means there isn’t an infection.  We still have to watch him really close and continue doing all the things we have been,  but a huge weight of worry has been lifted from my shoulders. Now I just have to get everyone well so I can concentrate on some other things that need to be taken care of.

4. As of Wednesday, Jonathan has a part time job on a local radio show.

The job I hoped would be available and that I have been drooling over for last several months.

The job I really, really wanted.

Yeah. That one.

I’m editing this because well…it really should just be left at that.

5. I have THE MOST AWESOME BLOGGING THINGY COMING UP!  I can’t wait to spill the beans on it, but I can’t yet. Let me just say it will be a huge help for us and I want to make out with BlogHer for hooking me up with it. I needed this shot in the arm of happy like you can’t imagine. I heart BlogHer with the power of a thousand burning suns.

6. I have had a weird craving for Hostess Snowballs lately.

7. I’ve seen and talked to friends a lot this week. Before we all got REALLY sick, we were just “sick” and so instead of going out to dinner and a movie as planned, my friends Bridgy and Karen came for dinner and to talk, which was great. They have been friends for a long time and I love them.  I had lunch on Saturday with my friend, Kim, and her group of girlfriends. I didn’t stay long because I was way too worried about Aaron, but having real food and a break was incredibly nice. She (prairiemama) also has a fabulous Etsy shop. (She made me THE most adorable baby sling for Aaron. I’ll write about it later) and all the ladies went and cooed over her cute things in stock. She posted these PRISTINE, handmade seersucker jumpers from the 1940’s and since they were really reasonable ($12.00) I splurged and bought all three because I couldn’t pick which one was cuter.

They were made for my little baby, I swear.

SEE?

rompers

I can’t wait to see him in them.

8. My sister walked in to a neurologist appointment and came out with a Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis.

9. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO MY FRIEND, SANDI!

I know I posted this yesterday as an edit to my post, but there has been so much going on I missed her birthday and yes…I am flogging myself for it even though she called me a dork and told me to stop it.

She’s been so lovely to me and I feel like a Fire Swamp dwelling troll about it.

In fact, I should just have that chick from The Princess Bride follow me around for a set period of time as punishment as I run errands yelling ‘BOO! BOO!! RUBBISH!!! FILTH!!!! SLIME!!!!! MUCK!!!!!! BOO!!!!!!! BOO!!!!!!!!! BOO!!!!!!!!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

(And hey, according to this website she would totally fit in at WalMart, apparently.)

And finally…

10. I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! !!!!!!!!

If you aren’t watching it, YOU SHOULD BE. I’ve watched this clip eleventyhundred times this week.

It makes me happy.

And heavens knows there is not enough of THAT around here lately.

I’m working on getting a lot more of that round these here parts in the near future.

:)

Stumble it!

Wow, what a lot has been happening. You’ve really had The Good, The Bad and The Ugly going on.

It sucks when we have our heart set on something and it doesn’t work out for us (and someone we know and love and know will do a good job gets it – it hurts). Glad to see you stopped writing before the hurt all escaped all over the place – good for the family that way.

    Those jumpers are just adorable.

Can’t wait to hear about your MOST AWESOME BLOGGING THINGY.

Glee has just come on over here (in Australia), and they showed that clip on Sunday night. LOVED IT!

God bless and praying that the lurgies all leave your house and you can all be healthy again.

    • loralee says:

There is a chance awesome bloggity thing won’t happen, but I am really hoping it does. :)

I usually don’t write about my upset in family for that very reason…for the kids, me and him. It felt good for a moment but less awesome when I re-read so I edited it.

“Lurgies” is an awesome word. MUST USE OFTEN.

      xoxoxoxoxoxo

  • Seraphim says:

You weren’t kidding when you twittered about the major suckitude of life right now. As to number 4, I hope you guys can work through it, I really do. (FWIW I’d be ropable)
And as for number 5 I’m so excited for you! I heart BlogHer too and am so hoping to come next year for the conference and take back what I learn there to Oz. Let us know, when you know, what you know. If you know what I mean.
I’m sorry about your sister more than words can adequately convey, please give her a wildly inappropriate warm bear hug from me. And I hope ALL your respective boys get better, behave nicely and send you off to a spa for a much needed rest.
    Mwah!
    xxxx

    • loralee says:

      THANK YOU. xoxoxoxooxxooxoxo
I so hope you make it to BlogHer!! I’d love to give you a hug!!!

The suckitude of it all is overwhelming to me, which is why I wrote it out. I’ve reached my limit frankly. I had to edit some of it because meh…It ended up not settling well with me. :S
I hope I can meet you I’d love to meei= you in person.

  • I really hope we both can jump off the way-too-much-crap-to-handle-train very soon! I am so happy Aaron is okay.
I hope your older son it alright.
I am sure your sisters diagnosis was a blow. I dont know how you handle it all. People always tell me God only deals these blows to people who can handle it. HA HA HA HA.
Do you think he could start thinking we are weak for a little while?

    Also I love Glee tooooo!

    • loralee says:

Oh, hon…you have had way more hurt this month then I have! My sister was a huge blow. She’s more like my mom. :S
we’ll all be there for her but man…we need some time to just process it.

  • Ugh do you know how happy you made me when I realized I have Glee to look forward to tonight and then crash, today is *Tuesday*.

This month will be over soon. I hope November is Your Time.

    Steph

  • PS I can’t get over those jumpers Kim made!!!

    Steph

    • loralee says:

She’s just selling them. THEY ARE ACTUALLY FROM THE 40’s!!!!!

The craftmanship on them KILLS ME. Hand sewn button holes! Hand sewn everything!

I told Kim she has to copy the pattern and recreate them! SOOOO cute.

  • p.s the end of the episode this clip is from made me bawl like a baby. FANTASTIC

  • MB says:

I hope your family gets a good dose of healthy soon.

I LOVED the clip from Glee. I needed that today. Thanks!

  • Things won’t always be this bad. At least, I hope they won’t. You guys have gone through enough and it’s time for a damn break! I am glad that Aaron is doing better and I hope that the rest of you start to get well too. Being sick is a bunch of bullshit. Love you!

  • lorimo says:

So sorry for everything going on right now… it will get better. It has to right?

I don’t comment often, but had to this time because I was also diagnosed with MS just about 2 years ago and it can be very scary. It is such a strange disease. I don’t know how severe your sister has it, but is can be relatively mild and even though I am sure not happy I have it…it can be very manageable. The unknown is what gets me at times and stress is a big kicker in making symptoms worse. I know you will be a big support for her. Try not to worry about what can be, but how you can help her feel better now.

Don’t know if that was any help at all…

I have fallen in love with Glee too!!!

    • loralee says:

One of my favorite people was diagnosed with MS last year so it has been very helpful about what to expect and treatments, ect.

She has a REALLY stressful life and has really poor health right now. I think everyone will do their best to just be there and love her no matter what.

      • lorimo says:

It took MS for me to realize how stress affected my body. I was the kind of person that worried about everything and then some. Once I had MS I could more easily see how it physically affected me and I HAD to make a change. I had to change how I reacted to things and I had to change how many things I took on and even decided to work fewer hours.

Please try to help your sister make some changes in her life to help reduce her stress. It will make a big difference to improve her health.

  • Al_Pal says:

SO glad to hear that Aaron’s lungs & oxygen are good!

*sadface* for the MS diagnosis. I really hope it is a milder form.
…but regardless, if she chooses to live life to the fullest, she will. My “stepmom in law” has the chronic progressive form and has outlived all expectations, ~15 years post-diagnosis. She is 58.

    HUGE HUGS to you!

  • Kristin says:

Like I said on Twitter today, I’ll keep thinking good thoughts for Aaron and ALL of you to get well soon. Having sick kids is tough enough without all the added issues you have.

I don’t write about my relationship with my husband on my blog, even though I could fill tons of space. But I so hear you about the lack of respect. Oy.

I haven’t watched Glee. I just may try tonight while said husband is out playing hockey and our other shows are recording. I was (and still am at heart) a band geek so I think I’d connect pretty well with the show.

Can’t wait to hear about your new blogging adventure!

    Sending hugs from Maine.

    • loralee says:

I edited what I wrote. It’s only the 3rd time I have ever written anything about him like this but I just felt icky, even though it was the total truth.

I can have respect for him even though it is seriously lacking on his end.

I think you would LOVE Glee. Seriously, it’s awesome.

  • Carmen says:

I’ve never watched Glee but I just may start after that clip. Too, too funny. I’m sad that things are sucky for you. I hope it clears soon!

  • sandi says:

Well, that was a lot to wake up to!! Holy Shit, I can’t believe it. It sounds to me like I need to fly your ass down here. You can watch Glee with Brandon and I because we are in love with it too! Call me and tell me when you want to run away and I will pick you up at the airport.

    • loralee says:

Ugh…I know, right? I KNEW you would understand. xoxoxoxoxoxo
It blows, blows, BLOWS. It’s way too much. Even for me.

I should run away to your house for my birthday next month. It’s my 35th and I don’t think I’m doing anything.

I am dying to meet your wee one but I don’t want to butt in too soon. But seriously. I would hitchhike to get the freak away from this place for awhile. :S

  • lceel says:

I can’t imagine what would happen if I did to LoveMuffin what Jon did to you. On the other hand, I hope beyond hoping that the Bloggy thing works out better than all your expectations. You deserve a break in your favor. More than one, truth be told.

    • loralee says:

I can’t picture you doing something like this to your love muffin, Lou. You get women.

I hope the Bloggy thing works out, too. It would be really great.

  • lindsey says:

I love Glee…although, I will admit I watch it more for Mark Salling than for the dancing.

  • Miss Angie says:

Ugh, I am so sorry about all the crap you’re going through. Also, I can totally understand how you feel about the job right now, that’s unfair. *Hugs* I hope life starts looking up for you really soon! I’m sending good energies!

  • sizzle says:

I sincerely hope everyone feels MUCH better ASAP. Holding good thoughts.

  • 1) I like Frankenfinger.
    2) I’m glad your friends are taking good care of you. Your friends are testament to your awesomeness.
    3) You have to start feeling better pronto, dammit! Consider than an order.
    4) Damn you all to hell for turning me on to Glee. Now I’m addicted to it, too. I’ll get even with you for that someday, somehow. Perhaps I’ll send you a case of Oreos. That ought to do it.

Lots and lots of big warm hugs.
    D-

  • Pando says:

Glee IS awesome. I didn’t expect it to be, but I’m really enjoying it. Sick sucks.. feel better.

  • Rhi says:

I hope everyone is better than new soon! Also, if I continue downloading songs from Glee every week, I am going to go broke. But, hello? Kristen Chenoweth? I want to be her when I grow up.

  • Molly says:

    GLEE! YES!

and let’s get real here. The Boo Hiss Filth lady is way too classy for walmart. Heh

Also, I have a new dream. It is to teach a football team the single ladies dance and then have them perform it.

  • joeinvegas says:

On old dishwashing injury – right, I can just hear him bragging about that scar to his friends already.

  • julie says:

A diagnosis of MS is not a be-all, end-all. I have had the knowledge of this since I was diagnosed with Lyme disease 9 years ago, and have been reading on the major website of information for lyme, for the past 9 years now. It’s lymenet.com. If you (or your sister) goes there and does a search, you will see that in a lot of cases (can’t give you a percentage, but it’s high) MS is masquerading as lyme. It’s really not uncommon for someone to be given an MS diagnosis only to be told that it is really lyme disease. And with lyme, you have hope, and it is managable.

If ever I’d been told I had/have MS, I would get myself to a LLMD, that is lyme literate M.D. You can find one on lymenet, a lot of folks this end of the country come to San Francisco to see the one that treated me, as well as both my sons. We are 9 years post diagnosis, and are managing.

Wish I could give you stats and numbers, but I’m just not up to the call anymore. I know you’ve got lots on your plate, but if you could pass along this info to your sister, she may be able to take over? Good thoughts and all that.
    Julie

    • loralee says:

I’ll pass it along. Thank you. I am sorry about your experience with it…everything I have heard about Lyme is horrible and scary. All my best.xo

  • Kim says:

You know how I feel about all of the crap that is your life right now. Wishing with all my being that you were better, as were your whole fam damily.
Loving you…call if you need me.

    • loralee says:

I feel like the biggest whiner with this post. Really, I do but man…I reached the END OF THE PROVERBIAL ROPE TODAY.

It came at some point between the screaming baby that wouldn’t eat and James chasing Christopher around the house yelling, “UNCLEAN!”

      Ugh.

      :S

I may need to run far, far, away. And soon.

  • So sorry to hear about all the CRAPITY-CRAP goin’ on right now, Lor. My prayers and happy thoughts are coming your way.

    I also wanted to say…

“I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! I love Glee! TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!”

I’m sure the choir-snob-drama-queen in me is the driving force to my deep love of this show! Plus, a whole episode with Kristin Chenowith?! Be still my heart!

  • SNOWBALLS. I love them. I want to have small snowball babies with them. Nothing is better.

Also, I don’t have MS, but I’ve gone down the neurologist road 400,000 times and would be happy to help your sister in any way possible. If she’s into computer stuff, have her check out chronicbabe.com and their message boards. We have a section just for women with extra fun brains and we might be able to offer her some support.

Hope you’re all feeling better soon.

    xo

    • loralee says:

I LOVE those marshmallow coconut mounds of goodness.

My sister is soooooo computer illiterate. It’s sort of adorable. However, I’ll let her know about it. She figured out WoW, she could do this.

Thanks for the love. I needed it today. xoxo

  • Mrs. Wilson says:

    1. SO happy little Aaron is out of the really scary woods!

    2. I LOVE GLEE TOO!

    3. My aunt has MS. It sucks. But, she has her really good days and her really bad days. It’s the beginning of a different life, but she can still live life to the fullest with the right meds! I may be putting my foot in my mouth with this one, but somehow I just want to give you hope.

    • loralee says:

1.Me, too. I am so glad I have that because he is seriously scaring the heck out of me. So often he just lays there whimpering in pain…scares me to death. It was a miserable, miserable day. :S

      2. The diagnosis is sad and horrible but as she said, it doesn’t really change much about her life or how she functions for now . At least they have some idea what they have to do right now.

It’s hard for me to think about at all. She’s like my mom.
It’s why I just said it and moved on. Her quality of life right now really sucks, she is so sick. I’m hoping that treating it will help her feel better.

  • I am tired and have nothing intelligent to say, just wanted to let you know I’m here, I’m reading, and I’m praying for you and mentally sending you more shots of happy (puppies! sunshine! football players dancing to Beyonce!), y’know, for when you run out of the ones that the Blogher bloggity thing provided you.

    • loralee says:

I love that you said something even though you’re tired. I have been feeling like a weenie about this post all day. I really, REALLY want to do something other then whine and blog about sad ick.

      I’ve just reach max capacity.

Hopefully, happy rainbows n’ stuff are COMING SOON.

AND If they don’t occur naturally I will go and take every damn crystal in Utah and make a crapload of “Rainbow Makers” and channel Polyanna DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!

      :)

    • loralee says:

      P.S.

      TOTALLY LOVE THE GUMBALL MUG!

  • suck suck awesome.

    Insert where appropriate.

    And big sloppy MWAH!

  • Dood… I honestly thought I was the only one who’s period caught them off guard. I seriously turn into a raging crazy lady and cannot figure out why until… DUH! I am glad to see I am not the only one.

I am sending all you guys healthy love vibes.

  • Theresa says:

    Where do I start?

I love Glee! I love those jumpers! I love those silly snowballs! I’m sorry you guys aren’t feeling well, but I’m glad you guys are making it through it!!!! Feel better!

  • ((((Hugs)))) much love to you guys!

  • Jamie says:
