“WOW! Jonathan, look!!
“At what?”
“At the gas prices! They’re almost down to $2.00 a gallon!!!”
“Well…I would be happier about that if congressional stupidity hadn’t led to the crushing economic environment that caused the decrease in demand that resulted in the price drop.”
Blink, blink, blinkity-blink-blink.
“Wow.”
“What now? You know I’m right. I’ve been predicting this for a long time.”
“No, it’s not that. I am just sitting here realizing that at this moment I am the optimist in this equation. Since I think that the chances of someone calling me an optimist is right up there with being accused of being left-brained, I’m just going to sit here and savor the moment, if you don’t mind.”
“Well, don’t savor too long; we’re almost at the store.”
“I don’t suppose calling you, “Debbie Downer” for the rest of the day would be acceptable?”
“Baby, I’m driving a vehicle that weighs several tons. I wouldn’t push it if I were you.”
“Spoil sport.”

It’s about $1.80 down here in SLC! It’s like a dream.
$1.84 this past Saturday.
I live in a beautiful valley surrounded by a ring of mountains. To get there you have to travel 40 minutes through a gorgeous canyon and I’m a good hour from the nearest “Big-ish” city.
In other words?
I live in BFE and while I like living amongst cows and communing with alfalfa fields and mountains, my gas cost will ALWAYS be higher than the national average, dammit.
When we first arrived at the North Rim back in April, diesel fuel was $4.89 per gallon. Now, we are down in Phoenix, and it is $2.39 per gallon at the corner store. I know a little bit of that difference is due to the remoteness of the area around the Grand Canyon, but dang, I’m glad it’s going down. $2.50 a gallon is a big difference.
That’s hilarious Loralee! But seriously, you should hit Smith’s here in town, or Maverick over in P-town (haha, I make myself laugh. Since when are we big enough to actually have nicknames for our cities. bwa hahaha). They have been below $2 for several weeks! love, red.
Ours is still over $2.00 – but probably because we don’t get to pump our own.
(and, dude, I am dating Debbie Downer! He and Jonathan may get along really well. Or, you know, probably not. Because being positive? BLEH!)
$1.70!! :D
$1.62 today ;-) i can’t even tell you the happiness!!
Blow your Donald Downer hubs a raspberry for me, K :-) LOL
Love ya girl.
Happy Thanksgiving if I don’t ‘see ya’ around.
We are at $1.64 here…so much nicer than before especially when you drive a big old Expedition and the hubby a pick-up. I will take $35 a gallon vs. $90 any day. I hope the price stays low too!
Here in northern Minnesota, gas is $1.72 and we are very happy about it! Sure beats $4.00!
I bought gas last night at $1.69 a gallon. Why don’t they have pre-buy cards for gas? ‘Cause at this price, I’d buy a couple hundred gallons. Then when the price went back up to, oh, I don’t know, $2.50 or $3.00 a gallon, where I think it’s going to be again before too long, I would have all of this pre-bought gas at a buck 69 (I just HAD to get 69 into the sentence all by itself) to put in the tank.
Yeah… I get that. I’m married to a Frowny McFrownsalot. His glass is always empty – not even 1/2 full. Men…
Gotchya’ll beat. Bought me some gas last night at $1.47 (St. Louis area). I almost cried that I could just about fill up my tank for $10. Been such a long time!
and yeah…MEN! Can’t live with ‘em, can’t push ‘em outta moving vehicle ;)
Economy schmonomy. I’m glad to have cheap gas.
Gas in Salt Lake is around $1.69. I love it!
Um, I’m pretty sure the earth just fell off it’s axis. Quit with the optimism, Woman!! :) :)
$1.62 here—booyah!! (Come back to MN!! The strip-clubs are calling our name!!!)
I live about 65 miles south of St. Louis and it is $1.49 here. Yeah!!!!!
I just got it for 1.73!!!
Alright, you can all be quiet now. Here in the Great White North, in the province that refines the damn gasoline and exports it to you the price is 79.9cents/L. That converts to $3.60/Gallon. Only weeks ago it was $5.00/Gallon
So, on behalf of all Canadians…Happy Thanksgiving and shut the hell up! :)
@4
GAH! You totally win. :S
(And to everyone else, this conversation was a few weeks ago and I hadn’t bought gas since. I just filled up my car a few hours ago and paid 1.80! WOOT! Sorry 4. Grovel…)
