Sideblog: Great diet-friendly food finds!

August 14, 2008

I have two new loves.

One is Ben & Jerry’s Berried Treasure Sorbet. It is a PERFECT mix of blueberry, blackberry and lemon sorbet. Not too sweet not too tart. My friend, Michelle brought it over the other day to me to help save my sanity.

It worked.

This stuff is DEEEELICIOUS and it’s only about 100 calories a half-cup. Since my gastric bypass and gallblatter removal I can’t eat ice cream any longer but I CAN eat sorbet, so this is a welcome treat for me. I highly recommend it.

And?

Hendrickson’s salad dressing. I think that this is one of my favorite food finds I’ve ever had. I went to the store to find my favorite (but VERY high in fat) locally made salad dressing and they were out.

I scanned the shelf and this looked similar so I picked it up. I like it BETTER. It’s light, a perfect balance of savory and sweet and best of all, it has no fat, it’s Kosher, has no preservatives and is wheat and gluten-free.

More important? It is the only, ONLY way my kid will eat salad. And he consumes it by the plateful because this dressing is heavenly.
