Sideblog: Great diet-friendly food finds!

August 14, 2008

I have two new loves.

One is Ben & Jerry’s Berried Treasure Sorbet. It is a PERFECT mix of blueberry, blackberry and lemon sorbet. Not too sweet not too tart. My friend, Michelle brought it over the other day to me to help save my sanity.

It worked.

This stuff is DEEEELICIOUS and it’s only about 100 calories a half-cup. Since my gastric bypass and gallblatter removal I can’t eat ice cream any longer but I CAN eat sorbet, so this is a welcome treat for me. I highly recommend it.

And?

Hendrickson’s salad dressing. I think that this is one of my favorite food finds I’ve ever had. I went to the store to find my favorite (but VERY high in fat) locally made salad dressing and they were out.

I scanned the shelf and this looked similar so I picked it up. I like it BETTER. It’s light, a perfect balance of savory and sweet and best of all, it has no fat, it’s Kosher, has no preservatives and is wheat and gluten-free.

More important? It is the only, ONLY way my kid will eat salad. And he consumes it by the plateful because this dressing is heavenly.

The salad dressing looks great! I’ll give it a try. I have a child with allergies to wheat and dairy (who doesn’t these days?!), so I’m always looking for a good product.

    Thanks for sharing!

Nice to know about Hendrickson’s…I will be checking it out!

Have you tried the Newman’s Own Light Sesame Ginger? It’s my all time fave.

    And I LOVE sorbet! Especially Push-Ups. YUM-O!

You mean Hendrickson’s is better than Casper’s?! I just ordered a sample. If it is anything like it I will turn every grocery store in Denver upside-down until I find it!

I LOVED that you knew I was talking about Casper’s. Heh.

I really LOVE this stuff, Holly. I think I may like it better because Holy COW is Casper’s fattening. But this is very similar and I am just in WUV with it. I bought 4 bottles at Lee’s.

    Sigh…

wait a minute. i am stuck on the whole gastric bypass sentence. did you really have that? i know about the new and improved boobs. i just didn’t realize the other. and i’m all for doing what makes you feel better. i had a tummy tuck after 4 c-sections. i finally have a flat tummy…something i never had even before kids. now i just need to do something about the flab on my legs and arms. i’m guessing exercise is pretty much my only option. sigh.

oh…i’m having a contest about poop on my blog. because i am all about the bathroom talk! come by and make a couple of guesses. so far i don’t have a correct guess yet!

thank god it’s kosher - i kniw how important that is to you. :)

did you pick this up instead of casper’s? if yes, i am definitely going to have to try it.

i’m really picky about salad dressing. i’m not a fan of hidden valley ranch or any of the kraft dressings. i love litehouse, atwood’s…and oh! and i dig newman’s own lite sesame ginger, too.

Holly: When is Labor Day? I don’t have plans to go anywhere but I close my show on the 29th (Not sure if that is when it is)

    LOVE to see you!

Jess: I am totally talking about Caspers. Go to Lee’s and buy this stuff. I like it WAY more as it is not 12 grams of fat, but 2. ;)
