Quantcast

Beef. It’s what’s for dinner.

And?

I couldn’t care less about it.

Nothing sounds good. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero.

I have no appetite.

It’s been this way for over 3 weeks now.

Food and eating is a bit of a bother. (If you know me at all, you know what a statement THAT is.) My palate is throwing a mother of a hissy fit.

On the plus side? I’ve lost 12 lbs.

On the down side? It makes cooking for my family damn hard. Let’s not even get into what it does to my shopping list. I think I came home from my last shopping trip to WalMart with a bag of string cheese, some Clementine’s and a bottle of Tabasco sauce.

I have about 3 sets of 8 meals that are mainstays at my house and I rotate them from month to month. And none of them sound appealing.

The weight issue isn’t a biggie. I’m a large girl and in all honestly, I should probably take off another 10 lbs for my frame and height. (I don’t really care about that, though. I think I look fine. ANYTHING looks awesome to me after weighting 300 lbs.)

I just want to be hungry again, if that makes any sense.

So, here I sit. Trying to put a grocery list together and needing more than 5 items on it. Wanting to cook a good meal for my family. Dying to have it sound yummy to my palate. And I am losing the battle, people.

Do any of you have die-hard favorites? Ideas? Suggestions? TELL ME WHAT TO COOK, DAMMIT! Links would be especially welcome.

Thanks for any help. I’m excited to see how everyone eats and cooks.

P.S. Doritos and Diet Coke do not qualify as a meal.

P.P.S At least that is what my husband keeps telling me.

P.P.P.S Personally, I think he is full of shit.

P.P.P.P.S Probably better if you didn’t mention that last part to him, though.

That’s not so fun. I’ve only been wanting really bland foods for the last few days.

Somehow, these still appeal (especially with sweetened cream cheese dip…yumm): http://www.austin360.com/food_drink/content/food_drink/stories/2007/11/1128potatofries.html

    Or, failing that, these: http://www.joythebaker.com/blog/archives/74

Pancakes aren’t dinner food usually, but I just love breakfast for dinner.

    Good luck!

When I find myself completely uninterested in any food, which does happen from time to time, even though I love to eat, I find that engaging in serious physical activity cures the problem completely. A 3-6 hour hike, a long bike ride, or a day of walking around the city in the hot sun does wonders for your appetite.

When I’m not at all hungry and everyone else is…Pizza for you and the Perfect pint for me!

    The Perfect Pint
Here, for your consideration, is one method to attain the perfect pint of Guinness…
The first requirement is an imperial pint (20oz) glass. The glass should be clean, dry, and room temperature. In no circumstances use a chilled glass, or one that has not been cleaned properly. NOTE: a properly prepared glass will exhibit excellent ring-sustaining features.
Next, make sure the dispensing equipment is in proper working order. Taps and lines should be cleaned once per week at a minimum. The 50 liter (13.2 gallons) keg of Guinness should be stored between 38 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit, and served between 42 to 48 degrees Fahrenheit. Guinness should be dispensed by a gas mixture of 75% nitrogen and 25% carbon dioxide at a pressure of 30 pounds per square inch, so as to produce the creamy head. Finally, in preparation, one must have the proper Guinness tap and spout. You are now ready to pull the perfect pint.
Herein is explained the legendary “two-part pour.”
Hold the glass at a 45 degree angle close to the spout to prevent large bubbles from forming in the head. Pull the tap fully open and fill the glass 75 percent full.
Allow the stout to settle completely before filling the rest of the glass. The creamy head will separate from the dark body.
To top off the pint, push the tap forward slightly until the head rises just proud of the rim. Never allow the stout to overflow or run down the glass.
Now that you have pulled the perfect pint, enjoy it. Examine the rich, ruby black color of the body. Smell the creamy white head. Now take a large mouthful. Do not, under any circumstances, sip, as sipping ruins the majestic nature of the stout. When you have finished, notice the rings left on the inside of the glass. Also, notice it is empty. Enjoy another glass as you ponder the meaning of life.

Ok so I’m new to your blog and all and I had no idea you used to be 300lbs. So awesome job at looking so smoking hot.

As for dinners… this might sound icky but kids love it. Take hot dog weiners and roll them up in flour tortillas and line a dish as though they were enchildadas. Cover them with chili and cheese and put them in the oven long enough to heat through and melt the cheese. I think it’s called Chili Dog Casserole. And really they don’t taste all that bad. If you use quality franks and chili.

I have many other recipes but this one was the easiest to type out.

    1. I have also been without appetite for 3 weeks. Since, oh, just before that thing with the people and the stuff and the whatever.

    2. I have been eating like crap and not wanting to cook at all and I’ve lost some weight that I didn’t expect to lose while eating chips.

    3. Are you insane.

    5. You are insane. You don’t need to lose any weight. Not even the 12 lbs you already lost.

Have a flour mixture in one bowl with flour, rosemary, salt, and parmessan cheese

Have eggs beaten in another bowl.

Dip the chicken wrap in eggs, then flour, then eggs, then flour.

Bake in covered pan for 15 minutes at 375.

Uncover, then bake another 15-20 minutes.

2 cups uncooked penne (or whatever)

half can of chicken broth, cook a couple of chopped up chicken breasts in the broth. Add package of thawed drained spinach, package of cream cheese (I always use that lower fat stuff that I can’t spell), tsp of minced garlic, salt, and pepper. I threw in some chopped mushrooms, because i love mushrooms. When it’s all mixed nicely, throw in some chopped up fresh tomatos. Recipe called for cherry, but I just had roma and they were fine. Mix it with pasta. Muy delicioso.

You obviously have a disease. And personally, I think it’s probably that ancient curse disease – that is, you pissed off a whitch and she cursed you and now you’re paying the price. The disease is called Lackanooky Syndrome. But there is a cure – the ancient Hawaiians had a chant they used to say over and over until the lackanooky curse was broken. It goes like this, and you cannot be alone when you say this, nor can you be with a person of the same gender -”Howiwannalayya”. say that over and over until the curse is broken. Afterwards, you’ll be hungry. Or want a cigarette.

Here’s the estimations for yesterday’s batch:
6 cups shredded zucchini/yellow summer squash (press with paper towels after shredding to get rid of excess water)
    2 cups flour
    4 eggs
    dried onion flakes
    1/4 cup milk
salt to taste (I put lots :P)

    mix it all together
get a big frying pan, coat bottom with butter, make small pancakes–about 1/8 cup each. They should be thin and appx 5 inches in diameter (at least mine were?).
Get each side crispy brown. They fry up fast and makes about 30 small pancakes. The kids love them!
