It was totally worth all the hair pulling, throwing my hands up in the air and muttering “WTF?!” to see that scene with Desmond and Penny. AWE! I teared up. I actually did.
Plus, MORE INFO ON THAT FRIGGING SHIP STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRIGGING JUNGLE!!!
Dude.
I have been wondering about that since season one!

usually I get some glimmer of greater understanding when I watch a new episode, not last night. I am still totally LOST! However, I agree the desmond penny thing was very sweet.

BEST EPISODE EVER. No exaggerating. My god - that was PERFECT. This season has been fantastic, but that episode was the best thing I’ve seen on tv this season. I’m downloading it so I can watch it again.

I was so eager to see the episode this week after last weeks even more confusing than most episode! It really was great. Hey, people actually made it off the island! Alive! For now! And not crazy anymore (well, that Desmond really was a crazy to start off with)!
Also, I sure loved Locke in the first season or so, but NOT SO MUCH ANYMORE! Anyone with me on this? Is it because he is holding his hand so close? Is it because of his King Complex? I dunno.

Doug says:
My take on Locke is that he is essentially a very naive man, almost to the point of being stupid. He sees only what he wants, but doesn’t see the consequences of his actions. He is easily talked into things and manipulated. I was never a huge fan of his character, and I’ve never really like him. No denying though that his role is well written and well acted.
Regarding the Penny/Desmond contact scene, I rewatched last night and came to appreciate it all the more. So sweet–I even teared up. I especially loved the quick edits back and forth between the two just before the phone went dead.
Somebody has mentioned seeing a wedding ring on Penny. Uh-oh.

I second Doug’s sentiments. Season after season I have been increasingly frustrated, ready to walk away, much like a one-sided relationship. I’m a damn rat pushing that lever… please, please, please give me a drop of water sometime! Finally! Yay! I loved the episode, and told my husband it was probably 50% because I totally dug the whole Desmond time travel/ Penny thing, 50% because I really didn’t have to see or think about Ben and Locke. It was a much needed reprieve.
Lo - enlighten me. Did I totally miss something about the ship in the jungle? I’m slow, so it could have happened. I also kind-of forgot how to watch fast paced kinetic television whilst hiking around the glaciers. I seriously cannot shake the wrinkle in time.

I love the “Lost” discussion going on here. Usually I want to throw something at my screen and mutter “WTF” for an hour or two after I watch, but I KEEP WATCHING and coming back like some unrequited relationship that keeps me begging for something, anything!
Dammit.
Now I am freaking out about how the h-e-double hockey sticks Aaron ended up with Kate???!! GAH!!!
Still…I seriously loved the Penny/Desomond scenes. They just melted my heart. AWE!
Chelle: The “Black Rock” was featured at the auction where Desmond goes to Penny’s father to get her address. It is a painting and it explains it was a cargo ship headed from England to Siam in the 1840’s when it disappeared and the only thing that survived was the first mate’s log and that the information in it had never been revealed to anyone outside the original family.
Penny’s father bought it for like a million pounds or somethings.
Methinks it is how Penny finds out sort of where he is.

Ahh–didn’t catch the relation to the Black rock diary at the auction and the Black Rock on the ship. Thanks smarty.

I am so glad you brought it up, Loralee! The whole Kate having Aaron thing freaked me out as well. I couldn’t decide if that was who I thought it was, or why she had him, or if Kate just named her baby Aaron. The last one made the most sense to me, b/c Jack didn’t want to see him, though it could be he feels horrible for how the mother died and it’s just too much for him to handle. I. Don’t. Know!

When the episode ends it is like I’m in withdrawal until the next episode comes on the next week. I am so totally addicted!
I am so mixed up about the baby Aaron thing. Who knows how long it will be before we find out more.
This last episode was very nice with finally having Desmond and Penny “find” each other. I thought I did see a wedding ring on Penny as well.
It seems like there are so many more questions than answers right now.

Um, they ‘lost’ me 2 seasons ago. I couldn’t get no satisfaction. I can’t believe the fortitude y’all have hanging in there is long. Kudos.
