“Mom! Can I pick what we listen to on the drive?”
“No! I want to!”
“Well, I want to listen to Air Supply!”
“No! I want that song from Boston. Or, maybe the ABBA song that I like.”
“You picked that last time because I picked to listen to Oingo Boingo* and Journey.” ”
“Well, how about we don’t listen to any of them and pick John Denver?”
“Ok. That sounds good. Can you put in John Denver, mom?”
I’m so proud.
*Proof that I am not a total music-dork
(REMINDER: If you want me to put your blog on my linky love page, make sure you add it to the comment section of the previous post!)

Just the fact that John (Deutchendorfer) Denver was in the 11th grade English class where I did my student teaching in Edina, MN, qualifies me to be number one on your blog links page…or at least somewhere in the horde of people who read you…
YES! i love them ALL!!!
You listen to John Denver???
Snort.
Can’t stop giggling….
Dude.
My kids are DESTINED to be dorks.
And while *I* do not listen to John Denver…my Mom sure does.
And I can sing along…
Oh my! :)
your poor poor children.
Rocky Mountain high……..Logan, Utah!
I can no longer be your friend. ;-P
Yeah…I’m hoping my daughter doesn’t rely on me to teach her how to be cool.
I’m so taking my mom’s ABBA’s Greatest Hits album next time I go home. It’s time to start indoctrinating the kids.
a few months ago someone wrote a post about Annies Song, and then I had to go and listen to John Denver, and now I just might have to do it again…
I’m afraid my little one is destined for dorkdom as well, but man, we sure enjoy ourselves there.
Would you think I was kidding if I told you I saw Boston in concert in 1987? ;)
Also…my husband sometimes breaks out the John Denver ALBUMS but this winter finally bought his favorite John Denver songs on iTunes.
Hey, Abba rules!
That is fabulous! I’m so excited that someone else is raising dorks, I mean music appreciation’ists’ :-) LOL>
I love it! Perfect music appreciation education. Mix in a few show tunes and sprinkle with Mr. Big and you’re done.
You’ve trained them well!
Eason insists on listening to Jazz, and only jazz. He hates when I listen to “cool music”.
Nerds! :)
Okay. John Denver? That is a teensy bit dorky.
I’m the last one to tell someone how to raise their kids, but I think I’m gonna have to call Child Protective Services on this one.
I love you children! They are growing up straight out of a campy 70s movie!
Ever watch Muriel’s Wedding? Full of ABBA!
Which of your children loves ABBA? And which song does is the favorite? I MUST know.
Dude, I LOVE Journey. I would have Journey’s babies if Chris would let me.
OMG, I must be a total dork too (not a big shock) because I LOVE Journey & Air Supply. I totally heart Steve Perry.
John Denver, though? Not so much. I’d pick Styx. I’m going to go Sail Away now…
Wow. You need my patented kids mix. It will cure them. ;)
These comments are cracking me up.
I cannot believe there is not more love out there for John Denver. I LOVE HIM.
Actually? He was my FIRST concert. I was 16 and it remains one of the best I’ve ever seen.
(HEE!)
Here I thought I was the only one raising little dorks-in-training…heavy sigh of relief. I love dorky music AND my hubby’s an engineer. There is no hope for my kids.
I so heart ABBA, Journey, and all the rest, but dare I say it? I’m a Fanilow. I really, really heart Barry Manilow. He’s starting to resemble a space alien, but I’d still follow him to Copacabana. :-)
