Remember how I was spectacularly sick about a month ago?
When I was so sick I couldn’t even talk? When I was so sick I couldn’t even talk and that sickness lasted FOREVER?
Yah, that time.
Guess what?
I am sick.
AGAIN.
This sucks a duck. Or a goose. Or quite possibly a turkey.
The bad part of all this is that it has all the makings of being a repeat of spectacularly sick.
I have felt this coming for a few days and have been trying to cut it off at the pass with Airborne and sucking on zinc lozenges that my awesome friend Chelle brought me, to no avail.
I have a sore throat, infected sinus mucous and a fever.
I have FIVE MORE performances to do, people.
FIVE and I feel like complete crap.
Missing a show when you don’t have an understudy is not an option. IS NOT. It puts a huge number of people in a shitty situation. I am also responsible for herding five kids around the stage and it would be a huge problem to stay home sick. You just DON’T miss a performance unless you are dead or hospitalized.
They aren’t kidding when they say,”The show must go on”.
So now I have to take Mucinex and Nyquil and a million liquids and vitamins to try to feel better as soon as possible. I don’t have a show until Thursday night. I will handle feeling like a millions shades of suck if only, only I can still sing. It’s a crapshoot; Sometimes I keep my voice through sickness like this, sometimes not.
Last month when I was sick I couldn’t even SPEAK.
Keep your fingers crossed for me, people.
SuckasuckasuckaSUCK.

Now I know why you looked so run-down on Sunday. (I didn’t want to say anything because, well, I’ve had people say that to me when I’ve felt absolutely wonderful. It’s like, “Gee thanks for caring and all, but could you kindly shut the hell up?)

what about the vicks on the feet??? do it all day and all night!!! it helped me! I got sick again, but it worked WHILE I had it on.. maybe you can perform with Vicks on your feet.
I am SO SORRY. This really sucks. Get the chicken noodle soup and some of that licorice tea - that stuff really makes me feel better. licorice has medicinal properties, though I can’t remember what right now.
I’m thinking - at this moment Faith is talking to Mulan about being naked. dear Lord. I can’t focus.
be well. HUGS.

Since I started getting flu shots every fall, I NEVER get the horrible coughs, congestion, runny nose, bronchitis crap I used to get every winter!
Just a thought for next year…

hairyshoefairy says:
Nooo! That is no good at all! And it’s not like you really want to be traipsing around the stage high on Nyquil or, ahem, tylenol cold, or anything. Not that I know anything about that, ahem. But you do what you gotta do, I guess. I’m sorry. That really sucks a huge freakin’ duck.

Christy says:
Oh God- that DOES suck. There’s nothing worse than having to perform sick.
Have you tried the hang over your bed- upside down-while irrigating your sinuses with nasal spray-trick? Although it hurts like HELL- it did clear me up enough to sing the Vivaldi Gloria and all it’s alto solos and duets in college. My doctor recommended this. Cruel and unusual punishment-yes-but effective. :)
I hope you feel better soon!

But thank you. For everything.

Hope you feel better LL, I am sure you will be able to sing - but remember one thing - you are in Utah.
Nothing against Utah, some of my best LDS blog friends live there, but missing a show to take care of yourself will probably not even make the evening news.
In Provo.
The show should go on, only if it can go on without killing you! :)

Yucky, yucky, yuck!
My hubby has been sick with similar sounding garbage for a week now. The only relief came today at the docs office…in the form of a nice shot of pain killers in the tushie and a scrip for antibiotics.
So sorry to hear you’re not well. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
XOXOXOX :)

If you don’t have a neti pot to wash out the sinus cavities, grab a small one cup teapot and rinse the snot out of them. And if you can get ColdFX where you live, it’s miraculous! But you’re probably sleeping if you have any sense at all. Good luck!

I get sick every six weeks. Yep, that’s right, dearie. So I can sooooo relate. The good news is your kids are in school so you can cuddle up and be miserable. My bad news is I still have to take care of mine. :-)

I hope you feel better–and soon. Please, if you are really feeling horrible, take at least one night off from The King. It takes longer to get better if you run yourself into the ground and don’t get any rest.

Yucko! I used to be a frequent sinus infection sufferer so I know the misery and it must really suck with the performances. Anyhoo, you may already know this treatment but just in case…try steam inhalation with eculyptus essential oil AND tea tree oil (make sure it is pure essential oil not the cheaper blends often available). The eculyptus “penetrates” the congestion while the tea tree kills off the germies. It should be a strong mixture, not enough to hurt but enough to smell a bit stinging. Good luck whatever you do.
