I can’t stand to label this rather materialistic post “Thanksgiving”, but since I only have, ya know, 20 minutes to meet the freaking posting deadline, why don’t we just call this “In which my awesome husband sits out in the freezing cold for 16 hours to get his wife a new laptop.”

And yes. He totally kicks ass.

I feel so bad for him, though. He got to Best Buy at 3 PM to wait with his brother.

He is THIRTY SEVENTH IN LINE.

Damn.

There is a part of me that truly sees the crazy in all this. Then there is the part that REALLY wants a laptop.

Guess which side won?

P.S.

No I’m not there waiting with him. I am bringing him cocoa and chapstick and whatever he needs through the night. He wouldn’t let me wait, so don’t beast at me for abandoning my husband for my own material gain. I have bronchitis. :(

who says that big time romance is dead?
what men will do to win the heart of yon fair maiden.

  • Charli says:

When we lived up north a couple years ago, my dad did the waiting outside Best Buy thing. Hubby and I got one of my sisters to sleep over with Hali, got up and joined my mom at Walmart at about 5:15.

Dad showed up befor we were even able to get the tv we’d come for- he had gotten his vocher. He looked frost bitten. And he grew up there! He looked like he was covered in frost.

But bangin’ deals are to be had for the brave! There was an AWESOME fight on the pallet next to mine that year- guys were totally punching each other!

  • Hope it was worth the effort and that you got your laptop.

I’m sure you can think of a few ways to warm your husband up! wink wink

  • Craig says:

Let’s say Jonathan saved $200 on the laptop, and waited in line for 14 hours. That comes out to about $14.28/hour. Keep in mind that those are holiday wages, too. In all, I’d probably pay the extra $200, but it’s a close call.

Now THAT’s dedication. MY next laptop, however, is going to be a mac. This one is rapidly dying (the power cord now wrapped around my left arm, in the perfect position where the computer actually receives power. But I had better not move…). I am not turning into a Mac snob, but I’ve had 3 failed laptops now, so I’m going to give the Mac a try. It certainly can’t be any worse…

Awesome, keep Jon warm! He deserved it!

    What a trooper!

I’m excited to see what you got :)

you are so lucky! what a sweet husband. cant wait to hear if he was victorious.

This story warms my nerd’s heart, while it makes my sarcastic and cynical mind laugh at your husband.

  • Sharon says:

    What a great guy!

  • Did you bring him cassaroles?

    tjk-
It’s true. He’s my knight in shining thermals. :)

    glittersmama:
Yup. It’s a Toshiba A135. We paid 225 for it and they threw in a printer. I think we saved about 800-900 bucks. It rocks.

Charli-Best Buy is definately the hot ticket line in Logan. I was way too sick to go out shopping this year.

applesonastick-Tee Hee. I’ve thanked him. GRIN.

Craig-Oh, he saved WAY more than that. It was worth it.

Doug-I WANT A MAC. Why? They are so PRETTY! Yup. that is the extent of it. Sad, I know. My husband is a pretty vocal mac hater, so it will never ever happen. Wah.

Kyle-I’ve thanked him. Trust me. ;)

Angella-It’s a pretty good, basic, laptop. I love the portability of it.

raygon-YUP! I got it. It rocks. Jon got everything that he wanted as well, which was a plus.

Froyd-I felt fairly the same. Except, ya know, the cynacism was quelled by my rampant materialism.

Sharon: He IS a great guy!

    Kyle-He was quite the trooper.

Moosh-Nah. I’m Bianca the Blow up doll. I had a school board meeting. Tee Hee :)
