NaBloPoMo -OR- How the freak did November get here so quickly?

November 2, 2007

See that badge thingy over in my right sidebar? No, not the Flickr one. Go down further.

No…It’s in the middle of my lovely, clickable advertisements. You know, the badge with the profile photo that looks like I am a cross between a ninja, The Man in Black from The Princess Bride, and a burka-wearing eyelash model.

Yup! That’s it!! You found it!!!

Good job!

Some of you may be wondering what the freak “NaBloPoMo” is, exactly. Well, let me tell you.

National Blog Posting Month.

Which is in November.

Which is this month.

Which means that I am going to be posting every day in November.

Simple.

That’s all it is. No shock. No awe. (Well, SOME awe. If only because I’m a wee bit narcissistic and secretly think that people should stand and sing “The Hallelujah Chorus” when I enter a room.)

I had grand plans to write something profound today to kick off my month of regular posting but there has been a lot of worry and sadness going on in my little house. Without going into a lot of details that aren’t mine to share, my brother-in-law was admitted into the critical care unit of the hospital yesterday. He is very ill, but it is expected that he will make a recovery. My husband is down there with him and so that leaves me and the boys by ourselves for awhile.

Blogging isn’t a top priority at the moment (You should see the woeful state of my house), but the routine is comforting to me and since I have had such little social life lately, you all are a comfort to me, too. Especially when it’s the middle of the night and I’m all alone and trying not to think that every little sound I hear is a rapist or an R.O.U.S that escaped from the fire swamp to hunt me down in Logan.

Since I can’t sleep, and since life is a bit crazy, I thought I’d ask the internet for advice on the upcoming month.

Is there anything you’d all like to know? Clarifications that you need?? Just dying of curiosity to ask me a question??? (Ok, I know that nobody is really that desperate to know about me or the minutia of my life, but let’s pretend you are for a moment to spare my ego.).

Any views you would like to hear from me? Stories?? Subjects???

Tell me what you’d like to read this next month. After all, I do take up a few minutes of your day. You might as well have a say in what that entails from time to time, right?

    Erika-
I’m pretty sure that’s what my family would request, too. (Don’t you think, Linny? Brother?? Nooncy???) Tee Hee.

    Angella-
Sure thing. Mean the NaMoBloPo photo or the “About me” one? Dang, I actually dress up and play photo shoot with my friend Bridgy that I’ll probably just do a whole thing on it. Some of them are…Interesting.

    Bridgy-
(Speaking of you). Yes, he will get better, thank goodness. Jon may stay down there again tonight, but we’re not sure.

Hope your brother-in-law is well soon. It’s always scary when someone you love is in the hospital. It’s also scary to BE in the hospital!!!

This month could you write about how you stay so amazingly in shape? Do you exercise, diet? You’ve mentioned that you used to be overweight.

I already get way too much information on your blog. Thank heavens I’ve never searched the archives!

I think you should discuss Plato’s parable of the Man Cave. (wait, I’m getting mixed up again!).

Farm Boy can’t help you - he has homework! :-)

    Sharon-
Thank you for the thoughts. As for the topic, I would be glad to write about it, although you may be surprised about quite a bit of it!

    Rachel-
I call my Nephew “Farm Boy”. And Jon when I’m feeling lazy and want him to fetch me the remote control or something. :)

    Brother-
It’s true. I feel so bad for you. Sigh.
I am sure the Jonathan would love me to dissect my feelings on “The Man Cave”. Heh.

Glitters-Make sure you let me know. I’m having low creativity flow.

TJK-Thank you for the kind thoughts. Hmmm…I could do a post on music. I have a couple of things coming up that might be interesting.

I think you should (seriously) educate people on why Utah is so great. I think most people just don’t get it!

Lets hear some more about that possible baby making goal you had set for yourself, eh?

Or the details of your boob job (for those of us who are considering one themselves…).

Oh, lets bring back the Sexy Sixth! And make the not-so-sexy sixteenth?!

I’m thinking you need to also extract your revenge on your neighbors complete with video footage and/or pictures and then post it for us all to enjoy!!!

How about dedicating the month to Jane Austen and posting a chapter a day from “Pride and Prejudice”? I can almost hear The Brother squee from here!

I signed up to be a nablopomoho too, but there’s no way I’ll make it through.

Because I’ve come to your blog in progress, what I would like is if you e-mail me a link to a post about your loss . yes?

    Charli-
I’ve actually written about “Reclaiming my bosoms” Just go to my search bar and enter “Boobies are magical” and it will come up. :)

I think that the Utah and baby posts rock. Good call.

    Linny-
I think that would be a FINE idea. I wonder if I can pull the birthday card and get him to watch “The Jane Austen Bookclub” with me????

The Joys- Sure thing I’ll email you about them both.

I desperately want to know how you got through the terrible 2’s, 3’s, and 4’s with your boys still intact. My girls spend every freaking moment lately hitting each other or talking back to me. They used to love each other (and me). If you experienced something similar, please pass on your knowledge to me. I need it.

    Signed,
Seriously close to locking them in a room until they’re 18
