I hate wearing glasses. Hate it. I feel totally awkward and totally unattractive in them. I see other people who wear glasses and look cute, but I am not one of them. I just don’t look good in them. Same goes for beanie caps. Every year when I am out shopping for scarves, hats and gloves I try them on, hoping that I will look in the mirror and see a fresh snow bunny that is trendy and adorable! Instead I end up looking like a fugly Q-Tip with a prominent nose. It’s just my lot in life.
I feel the same way when I wear glasses. I went as long as possible without admitting that I needed them. I BARELY squeeked by the driving sight exam (And I only did because the guy behind the counter gave me a few extra chances). The squinting got so bad that it became my trademark. So, two years ago I bit the bullet and got glasses. This is me then:
My glasses were great. I still take them off at every opportunity, but frankly? It was really nice to be able to SEE. Although, I have to admit, some things in life just look better through fuzzy eyes. Like the cellulite on my thighs. Pre-glasses, my legs looked MUCH better in the dressing room mirrors.
A few months ago, my glasses bit the dust and I have put off going in for a new pair (See? More denial). However, as my trip to the UK with Michelle is just around the corner, there is no WAY I am not going to be able to see every sprig of Scottish Heather and every little cobblestone in London, so I went and got my eyes checked and tried on glasses.
I decided that while I liked my old, thin-rimmed pair , this time I wanted to make a STATEMENT. So, I am opting for something more dramatic. I am not placing my order until Monday, so Internet, I thought I would get some feedback.
Which pair do you like?
Myself? I’m leaning towards option “B”. They both look better than these hastily snapped photos portray, but “B” is just, “WOW”. I feel sorta “Naughty Librarian” in these frames.
What do you think?
