Almonzo!!! I ADORED him! It didn’t help that my best friend and I used to “play” Little House on the Prairie and I was always Laura. I was (am) such a nerd.
Apples-Yes. Yes he was. Sigh.
Tasha- You are not alone. I did the same game. So did my friend, Karen. She either played “Little House” or roller skated with her sister in her basement to AIr Supply while pretending they were their boyfriends.
Growing up my best friend looked JUST like Laura, so I always got to be the hottie, Mary. We would get in terrible, catty fights about who Almonzo was REALLY in love with, though. Sometimes it would go too far and one of us would say something “REALLY” mean (Like “Your face looks like a big ugly booger brain!”) The penance for that behavior? You had to be Nellie Olsen the rest of the time. One time I was so naughty that she made me be WILLIE.
See? MUCH bigger nerd than you.
Sigh.
I liked the TV show, but LOVED the books! I re-read them many times. Hate to admit how old I was the last time I read them…let’s see, just a few years ago! Lovely, lovely series!
I wanted to be the REAL Laura and write like her!
