TechnoDork Girl Strikes Again. (I seriously need to be my own cartoon/action figure.)
I’ve been sitting here, spending time I really don’t have trying to figure out how to add things to my blog correctly and realizing yet again how much I suck at things like this. I swear, I shouldn’t even be allowed to own a computer. I don’t know what I’m doing, most of the things I think I “Figured out” end up sending my blog into suck-disfunctionville and I seem to just make everything HARDER.
I’ve been trying to understand WordPress plugin’s. Problem? You have to understand what the hell FTP is and I DON’T. So, now I have to try and unravel that. Easy peasy for many, wretched and worrisome for me. I usually have to read tutorials on HOW TO UNDERSTAND THE TUTORIAL!!!!!!
AND…
I really didn’t mean to write a bitchy post today. I wanted to post a photo of my desk with those cool popup comments embedded in the photo but CAN I FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THIS???!!! Uh, that would be a big, fat, NO!!!!!
If anyone on the planet can tell me how to get THIS (Or anything like this) to work in Flickr please tell me in simple-to-understand lingo (You know, like how you would speak to a preschooler or Kendra from “The Girl’s Next Door”) and save my poor mind.
(Please forgive the wailing, whiny post. I just get really frustrated when I work and work to understand or achieve something and just can’t do it or make my brain have the light bulb switch on. It pisses me off and I needed to vent. Grrr.)

Come talk to me when I get home from work!
do you have an FTP program? Dreamweaver, Cute FTP (free download I think), MSFrontpage?
Once you have your program you need to open it up and configure access to your url host (not wordpress). Should be something simple like “set up account”, “set up FTP connection” that sort of thing. You will need your hosts FTP address for your account (typically it is http://ftp.yourURL.com)
I assume you have already downloaded the footnotes thing to your harddrive. Once you have, open up the FTP program and select your footnotes file tell it you want to FTP it to a certain folder in your URL (make sure it goes to the wordpress plug-in folder). Once you have uploaded it (uploading is basically what FTP is) log into your WP account and you should be able to manipulate it following the readme file or whatever direction WP gives you for activating plug-ins.
Hope this helps- email me if you need more.
I could tell you, but that would surrender my power. Plus, you would be calling me every day! :-)
Karen-Ok. Sniff.
Apples-See? That lovely, concise bit of information you so sweetly passed on to me? I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IT MEANS. (I’m not shouting at you, I am shouting at my stupidity). Kerfloppy tried to explain this to me and even though she is uber awesome at explaining stuff, this is one area I just sat there like a drooling idiot going “Duh”. It just isn’t clicking. It takes me forever to have my head wrap around things like this. SO…I am sure when I grasp just what FTP is and does it will make more sense. The whole wp thing is just confusing me…I’ll just keep slugging away at it.
Rhett-Dude. I know you are bitter about not getting to hear me karaoke at the parent’s gathering but is that REALLY a good reason to keep information from your baby sister????!!! :)
P.S
Tell me or or I will tell the parents that you feel you are being neglected and that you want them to call you more. AND that you *really* want to babysit their dog, Pepper as often as possible. Heh heh heh
Loralee, you can call me if you need to. You have a built in FTP program in your hosting account. It’s easy peasy.
I can’t help you with the FTP – which my step son calls the F*ck-T Program :)
But, I think you need Photoshop Dave to create you an action figure :))
LL- if you have a built in with your host it IS SO EASY. Think of it as uploading files to a server, just like you upload pictures to flickr.
If it is built in it will be that easy. Who is your host?
All I know is FTP stands for ‘file transfer protocol’. I know it is in Dreamweaver, and I’ve used it there…
No help here. Which is why I’m stickin’ with Blogger for Dummies.
You guys are the best. Jessica, I’ll probably give you a ring tomorrow (Or whenever you’re free) I just so didn’t want to bug you. You’ve been AWESOME.
Heather, I can’t wait to meet you next week!
shhh! I am afraid to talk/write about it, if I do somehow it will not come true!
