Televsion

Since I don’t think that anyone really wants to read about the status of my laundry, what I had for breakfast this morning (Poached eggs on toast. Made them myself. :))or the suspicion that I may have an abscessed tooth, I thought I would write some reactions to different season finales on TV.

***DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED THESE!***

LOST

Personally, I think that they need to rename this show “WTF?!!!”. Seriously, I don’t think that there has even been a show on TV that has taxed my brain this much. I am a random and chaotic person that gloms onto weird, random facts and so I keep up with the show better than most but sometimes I feel like I did watching the bizarre movie, “Jacob’s Ladder”. (i.e-I have no idea what the freak is going on most of the time).

Things that PISS ME OFF:

They keep introducing MORE CHARACTERS without resolving a lot of the questions that we have. Seriously, seriously pissing me off.

Juliette’s simper. I want to bitch-slap her a lot.

Kate always, always, ALWAYS being bad ass and “Saving the day”.

The blond actress that played a guard down in the looking glass has always annoyed me. She played “Carrie” on “Days of our lives” a decade ago and there is something about her jawline that just makes me hostile. Bitchy, I know. Still…I wasn’t too sad when she bit it. I don’t think I could have watched her and her jaw for a whole season. Ben’s googly eyes are difficult enough.

They still have not explained what the hell a slaving ship is doing in the middle of a freaking forest.

Things I am resigned to:

I knew that Charlie was going to bite it. The actor wants to do more movies so it was inevitable that he wouldn’t stick around until the end of the show.

I think that everyone on the island is going to be related and I just have to accept it and the fact that we will find out things like the guy with a patch worked in Jack’s hospital as a janitor after fleeing Europe because he knocked up Charlie’s mom and is really his father. You know, stuff like that is all good on the island.

Things that I like:

Hurley saving the day!!!!! They seriously neglected him this season and it was sad.

Jin and Sun.

Rose and Bernard reappearing. They are high on my “Favorite” list. “You’re a dentist, not Rambo.”

THE FRENCH WOMAN MEETS HER DAUGHTER!!!! I so HOPED for this but didn’t expect it to happen. Although it was slightly disconcerting that the first thing she says is “Help me tie him up”. I tried not to have it go to the giggly-kinky realm, but alas…it did. Barf.

I loved how they were showing Jack in the future the whole time, we just didn’t know it.

Seeing WALT! I really hope we see him and Michael again. What happened to the dog???

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I sincerely enjoyed.each.fist.stuck.in.Ben’s.pop-eyed.face. I was sad when it was over. I’m terrible, I know. Sigh.

I suppose I will keep being tortured through the rest of the seasons until they wrap up in 2010. I just hope I survive that long without sticking a fork in my eye. I guess if I do, though, I can write that guy and ask where he buys his eye-patches.

CSI:

CSI radically changed how they shoot and produce their show. It is way more “Arty” than in previous seasons. I have mixed feelings about this. The original CSI is my favorite. I feel it is more accurate than the others (Though I would not quantify them as accurate portrayal’s of a real crime lab by any stretch of the imagination.)

I had mixed feelings about how there was one storyline that continued through the season. I tend to like shows that are contained into one segment and CSI was really great about that until this season. I do like the miniature storyline, but having it continue for so long has been a bit annoying. I think that the cliffhanger of Sarah out in the desert and Grissom with his throat cut is AWESOME. I can’t wait to tune in in the fall.

CSI: Miami

Jonathan hates this show above all others. He would rather watch “The Ghost Whisperer” with me, and that is saying A LOT. Even I think that the character of Horatio Cane is beyond ridiculous: Hostage negotiator, CSI, Sheriff, Narcotics expert, Bomb Expert, Head of SWAT, Nuclear Expert, Missing persons detective, social worker, and psychoanalyst and savior of small children all wrapped up in someone who wears longsleeved black clothing year-round IN MIAMI.

I don’t know why they go so over the top with this show, but they do. I don’t know why I keep watching it, but I do.

My favorite aspect of the season finale was an aerial shot of Horatio Cane standing on top of a skyscraper tower (Who the hell knows why) with the wind blowing through his red locks and heroic music playing in the background. Brought a tear to my eye.

CSI: New York

I am really just beginning to watch this show. All I really have to say to it is, “Meh.”

GREY’S ANATOMY

I just started watching this show really recently. In fact, my first episode was where Izzy wakes up next to George so mainly I have been muttering “WTF?” and trying to read synopsis’s and watch back episodes where I can. Here are observations from a newbie:

Meredith pisses me off. No one is that cute. Dreamy needs to McDUMP her.

I like Izzy and George. I know, I am in the minority here, but they seem better suited than Callie and George. Of course, it could be that Callie scares me to death so I could be biased.

I think that whole “Take the chief job back” was STUPID. LAME. DUMB.

McDreamy hitting on Meredith’s sister was STUPID. LAME. DUMB.

I heart Christina. I don’t know why.

The ending had me confused. I couldn’t tell if Christina was happy or really upset that she had been dumped at the alter. AND WHERE did Meredith’s reaction “It’s so over” come from ?????

Alex should date Ava.

Addison’s spin off is probably for the best. I have a hard time watching her on this show, but I did like the preview for her new series.

Meredith’s dad sucks.

Am I the only one who thinks that George failed his exams on purpose so that he wouldn’t have to leave Izzy and go to Mercy West???

The whole “Baby Rant” was really desperate. Big mistake to go there, which of course, means that they WILL.

I really like this show and I’ll be watching it in the fall.

SHEAR GENIUS

I love all of the Bravo reality shows. There is no show like “Project Runway” of course, but the spin off’s have been pretty good. I HATE the hosts of this series, though. HATE THEM.

Tabitha and Tyson shouldn’t have been eliminated. They were by far the most talented.

I’m a Dr. Boogie fan, but was really uncomfortable with him hogging the set on the photo shoot. He needed to go. His son must have been before he figured out he was gay. THAT was a shock.

I still think that that chick seriously thinking that her HEDGE CLIPPERS were the next essential “HAIR TOOL” needs some serious, serious help.

Over all? Daisy should walk away with it.

WORK OUT

My new favorite Bravo offering about the lives of trainers in a Beverly Hills gym. Jackie Warner, the owner, is just really intriguing, plus she has a super interesting life as a top Hollywood trainer that is from a Mormon family and is gay. It’s been pretty fascinating to watch.

GIRLS NEXT DOOR

I should be horrified and turn my eye from watching a reality show about an 80-year-old guy and his three blonde, giggling girlfriends that could be his grandchildren and yet, I don’t. It’s kind of like watching a car crash. I just can’t turn away.

They all act like they have three brain cells between them. They hate it when people “Assume they are stupid bimbo’s”. Well, it may help if you didn’t, uh, act that way, then. You know? I really don’t care if you are or you aren’t, but if you’re going to ACT like a bimbo, dress and speak like a bimbo, and (Especially in Kendra’s case) come off like you have been beaten with the stupid stick one too many times, then you might as well embrace the title and not get pissed when people assume, you know?

That said, I’m still watching, darn it.

THE GHOST WHISPERER

I don’t really know why I watch this. Jennifer Love Hewitt has pissed me off since “Party of Five”. There is no WAY someone living on the revenue from an antique store and a paramedic salary could have her house, car(s), and WARDROBE. No, no, NO WAY.

I was sad to see the level Julian Sands has fallen to. He guest starred on the last episode. The plot lines get more and more weird and cheesy…sort of “Touched by an Angel-esque”. There are times I expect her to speak in an Irish accent and light up like a Christmas tree.

The plusses are that it is a “Pretty” show, which I like, and that the guy that played Biff in “Back to the Future” has a supporting role.

I may or may not watch in the fall.

THE MEDIUM

I want to marry Joe DuBois. Sorry, Jon but there it is. I’ve loved the actor ever since he played a small character in the movie “The Pelican Brief”. He makes a video taped statement that nails the bad guys and has the sweetest goodbye on there to his family.

He still rocks in “The Medium”. Seriously, above everything this cute character won my heart and loyalty to this show. I freaking love their relationship. In fact, I can see why she is nuts about him, but I can’t really say the same for his draw to her. I try to figure out what he gets out of the relationship besides perpetually running their kids to school, picking them up and getting woken up at god-awful hours to discuss her dreams. Maybe it’s just excitement for a aeronautical engineer, who knows?

I totally, totally love this show, though and can’t wait to find out what will happen now that she has been “Outed”.

LAW AND ORDER (ALL OF THEM)

There really wasn’t a whole bunch of shakeup on the regular season. I know that Dick Wolf is just trying to make it two more seasons so that he can surpass “Gunsmoke” in longevity. I am still trying to adjust to the new assistant DA. The last time she was in a series she played Super-Hero Horatio Cane’s airheaded, dying wife, Marisol on CSI: Miami. So, I’m trying to adjust to her short hair and brain cell count.

I hope Fred Thompson stays away from the Presidential race and continues on Law and Order. I loved Adam Shiff, but I really like the way he plays DA. I miss Lenny. :(

SVU

This finale PISSED ME OFF. I wanted to seriously hurt someone. If comeuppance doesn’t happen somewhere next season, I will be SO pissed off.

Criminal Intent

They are moving this show to USA. I’m ok with that. I love this show. Vincent Denofreo is just uber talented and I am so freaking happy that Chris Noth came back to play Mike Logan. I heart them both.

NCIS:

This show took me awhile to warm to, but I have. I love it. The characters are very quirky and fun and the plot lines aren’t boring. I love the goth lab-chick, Abby. She was the only person/character on the planet that drank more caffeinated soda than me. However, SHE GAVE IT UP this season, which gave Jon a lot of “Well, ABBY gave up soda…” yada yada yaday. Maybe I should just be a chain smoker so that he will bitch about my soda consumption less. :)

The season ended with my least favorite character (Lauren Holly as the Chief) finding out that her father isn’t really dead like she has believed since 1995. Wowsers. I have no idea what will happen, but I plan on watching next season.

SCRUBS

WTF? This show is really pushing it. The whole JD/Kim line has ALWAYS annoyed me. I used to hate Keith and Elliot together, but I totally love them now and will be really sad if they screw it up. I feel like there hasn’t been enough Dr. Cox in this season and I am still wondering what the hell is with Jordan’s upper lip. It just looks odd to me.

I loved the musical that they did this year, though.

Anyway…We’ll see. I kind of think that next season should be the last. It is a show that is almost DOA.

MY NAME IS EARL

Loved it. Sometimes too gross/painful to watch, but over all thought that the ending was awesome. I loved how the Crabman’s hair got flat and her lawyers Deaf Interpreter, Doug was HILARIOUS.

THE OFFICE

My favorite season finale of the bunch! From Pam’s confession to the debacle of the New York interviews, “Goodbye, Kelli Kippur” and Pam being Dwight’s “Super Secret Assistant” was HILARIOUS. I love that Pam and Jim are finally going out and that the temp got the New York job and dumped Kelli. Jan’s boob job and Michael selling his condo on EBAY are just other pluses.

Cannot WAIT until fall for this one.

So, there we are. I don’t think I left anything out (But I’m really brain dead lately, so who knows.) Feel free to chime in with your opinions!

I ABSOLUTELY agree with you on EVERY point made about LOST.

Ahh…. The Office. What will I do for the next few months without you…

The dog is still there. Hurley was walking him on a leash in the ‘tribes of isreal’ shot.

I’m still pissed that they killed Charlie. Come back Pippen!

I think I have mentioned before how in LOVE I am with the George/Izzie relationship. I know it’s horrible and I know he’s married, but seriously. They are just too cute.

They have an official PodCast on iTunes. If you are into the whole behind the scenes thing the writers of the show do it and it is really interesting and helps me understand why they choose to do different things.

That is the only show on your list, but I am 100% addicted and I am so glad you are now a watcher. :)

    I miss Lenny, too. :(

And I also can’t stand the Shear Genius hosts.

The Office was freakin’ hilarious! I also thoroughly enjoyed the beach day episode the week before.

OMG with Lost! Last night rocked! Ok, want to know what I think (you probably don’t but this is what you get from open comments!)

-I think the “not Penny’s Boat” boat is really chartered by Penny’s father who wants to make sure Penny moves on and never pines for Desmond again. I think he wants to show Penny Desmond’s dead body so she will move on.

-Who was in the coffin? Jon? What is interesting even though it is in the future- when the other Dr. tries to help Jack he says “get my father down here, if I am drunker than he is you can fire me now”- um we all know his Dad is dead….hmmm…

-Maybe, just maybe, the future shot was really a “flash forward” of Desmond’s. See Charlie asked him if he had had any more flashbacks and he hemmed and hawed and then said no.

    ok enough.

I don’t think Grissom’s throat was actually cut. That was a fantasy of the crazy miniature killer woman. In the next scene, Grissom’s jugular was intact again.

    Also, go Fred Thompson 2008!

Plain Jane- Yup, it will be hard to wait for an update on “The Office”. ESPECIALLY if they skip ahead a few months as they are prone to do.

Karen-Thanks for the fate of the dog. I just hadn’t seen him in awhile and wondered if the smoke monster got him.

Angela-Yay. Most people hate the relationship (I can see why, but still).
I’m totally fond of Christina “Mamma took my eyebrows” HA HA HA

Hairy- I KNOW. The host guy pisses me off. He does NOTHING contributes NOTHING. Seriously, the only good thing he’s done this season is to tell Evangeline she was bent for continuing to use the hedge clippers.

Cricket-Dude I have been MIA with Dog this season. The last thing I watched was his gloriously white-trash/expensive wedding. I’m not sure why I’ve stopped, but I have. I’m still a fan, though. I hope they don’t extradite him to Mexico.

Apples-I think Penny’s dad IS EVIL. I also think it was Sawyer in the coffin, believe it or not. I don’t think Charlie is coming back. :(

Craig-ReallY? Crap, I must have missed something. I have DVR and it cuts off a lot of scenes. For example, I didn’t see the fact that the temp got the job on “The Office” till I watched it on the internet. GRRR.

Charli-I think most of America is completely befuddled YET AGAIN.

Jess-HA HA HA HA! A women of good taste, I see. I have both a DVR AND rampant insomnia. Of COURSE I watch more TV than you!!!! :)

    avatar Alex says:

    Okay:

    A) You forgot about the Heroes season finale, which was probably even better than The Office (US). Hiro goes to Edo era Japan?! Effing cool!

    B) As much as you hate Ben, you should appreciate that it was his coffin Jack visited in the “alternate future” sequences framing the story.

    C) I agree about Kate. Badass femmes are fine and all (grrl power, etc.), but let’s be realistic – even the tough girls have their girly moments, and Kate seems to be completely lacking in emotions other than guilt, lust, and anger.

    D) I wish they wouldn’t have killed off Hurley’s girlfriend. I really, really liked that someone – anyone – saw beyond the fat, hairy Latino shell and recognized that he had the biggest heart on the island. I mean, if your biggest character flaw is that you hoarded some peanut butter, I think you’re still up a few murders, rapes, kidnappings, and what have you, from the rest of the psychos on that island!

    avatar loralee says:

HOLY FREAKING HELL. HOW DID I FORGET HEROS??!!!!!

    DUH DUH DUH

LOVED IT. How could I not love a show that has both Sulu and the guy who played the gay son from Dynasty

Hiro rocks my world. The whole finale was frigging amazing!! WHERE WAS MY BRAIN!!!!
I must have suffered the same fate as Lindermen (Which was grody)

    As for Lost:
They only killed of Hurley’s girlfriend because the actress got arrested for a DUI along with the other chick they killed off.

I had a theory that Hurley killed her husband on accident (In the balcony fall he caused) and that is why she was in the looney bin with him at the same time.

I secretly thought she was stalking him.

    avatar Bridge says:

Can I mention you watch WAY TOO MUCH TV? LOL. Even with insomnia… where do you find the time?

    Love ya!

Oh, and I still haven’t watched Heroes yet. Maybe tomorrow.

  15. 15

    *gasp*
Heroes was awesome! I cannot wait to see what they’ll do with next season.

And yeah, that whole hedge clippers thing was out.of.control. Every day? Not even. “Just let me pull out my hedge clippers and we’ll get started with your cut.” Seriously? Seriously.

    avatar Michelle says:

Yes, Law and Order is terrific, though I’m a purist and only like the original.

first off – dang girl, do you watch every episode of television on every channel but Fox? even i don’t watch that much tv. lol.

grey’s anatomy – oh honey, you need to start watching it on sunday nights on lifetime or rent the first season on dvd. if you caught if from the front, you’d be addicted, would like meredith, but would still be like, WTF every other episode.

shows i think you should watch:
ugly betty (just started over on abc last night so it’s a good time to watch) & notes from the underbelly (all episodes are available on abc.com).

    they’re both hilarious. i don’t watch Lost.

  18. 18
    avatar loralee says:

Ok, ok! I watch a lot of TV!!! Guilty!
I have periods where I don’t touch the tv for weeks and then periods where it’s on all the time. Plus, unless I’m laying in bed before going to sleep I am usually doing “Something” while it’s on. My house is TINY, so I can hear it just fine while doing dishes, sorting socks, cleaning the bathroom, etc. It keeps me company.

Besides, my other flaw? FAST FORWARDING. I can watch an hour long episode in 20-30 minutes because I am a wuss that usually skips all confrontation, embarasssing or “Pointless” scenes. People HATE watching movies and television with me (Yes, I”m one of “those people”)

So…it really cuts down on how long I watch.

Now that I have run out of excuses and justifications, I have to go make sure my DVR is set to record “The Closer”.

    :)

UB is fantastic and had a heart-breaking finale.

The finale of Lost may just have been the best season finale I’ve ever seen. They brought back so many things from the series and tied them up. I have no idea how they’re going to continue, but I’m going along for the ride.

Right after the Rousseau reunion “You’d better help me tie him up.” FANTASTIC!

As for the other series you mentioned:

CSI Miami: David Caruso is painful. And looking very, very old. I haven’t watched in years.

SVU: I watch this show every week but I did not at all understand what happened in the season finale. Not one bit. Totally lost me. The best procedural out there, though.

CSI NY: I watched it once. And then the television cried. The further down the line you go, the worse the CSI’s get. The next spin off will be like watching community theatre, mark my words.

Scrubs: Not as funny as it used to be. It’s waaaayyy too soapy now.

The Office: Love it, but don’t watch it nearly enough.

GA: Only episode I saw this season was then one where Meridith died. OMFG – how does anybody watch this? That was the poorest episode I’ve seen of anything this year, outside of…

Criminal Minds: Wow. Just wow. It comes on here after DH so the tv is usually left on. I keep wondering if the actors are really or made of concrete. They can’t emote worth a shit.

Finally, you guys should check out How I Met Your Mother. Very funny, cute show.
