Late night conversation

March 6, 2007
Jonathan got up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water. When he came back to bed, I snuggled over next to him.

“Jon?”

What is it, Baby?”

“Before you got up I was watching you sleep. You looked really cute and sweet.”

“Really?”

Yah. It’s one of those moments when you just appreciate what you have. I’m glad you are here laying next to me.”

“Thanks, honey.”

“Jon?”

Mmm?”

“Do you ever watch me sleep at night?”

“Sure, I do.”

“Really?”

“Yes, really”

“What do you think when you watch me sleep?”

“That you sleep in the most abnormal positions I have ever seen and wonder how on earth a human can contort and sleep like that at the same time.”

And people think romance and chivalry are dead.

That is making me laugh out loud while I’m alone in my office. That sounds like a conversation I had with my wife–when I had a wife–about how dear I thought she was. She couldn’t figure out why I would enjoy watching her sleep, but I did.

    I miss that.

Yet another illustration of how spectacularly different you and I are. John (my husband John, not Loralees husband John) told me once that he liked watching me sleep and I told him to knock it off, it’s too creepy. We are the same in one way, however, which is that we are spectacular people in general. All the differences don’t really matter, do they?

Ha! I’m pretty sure my Jonathan and I have had this same conversation, except Jonathan’s response was “Yeah, I watch you sleep, then I poke you and put things on your face to see what you do.” Apparently I make funny noises.

    Now that’s romantic.

The funny thing is - I’m usually the one who says those things back. We were watching (don’t roll eyes here) the new Parent Trap this weekend. Tom came over to kiss me after Dennis Quaid gave his sappy speech about crossing the ocean, blah blah blah and said something about that being his favorite part because of something about love - yah yah yah. I just looked up and said “AND?”

I was painting. I needed my LIGHT!!!

    I suck.

    :)

Can we get pics of these contorted positions? Cause that sounds like a post in itself?

How funny!!!! So you two! There was a time I liked watching my ex sleep. Now I relish the king sized bed with 17 pillows, and sole control of the remote. I think my romance button is on “mute”.
