I know it has been a long time,I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful New Year’s. I know I did. We had my Great-Niece, Fiona (“Wee Fee”) blessed on Dec. 30th. They are only here for another week and I am trying to squeeze in as much baby time as possible.
For our New Year’s Eve party we went over to Bridgy’s and had a mellow gathering with a bunch of friends.
Jon really got into the spirit of things.
While I do have resolutions in mind, my ONLY focus is going on getting my house DONE DONE DONE! I have had so little time and even less energy that I have seriously neglected this little blog of mine. I doubt I will have any readers at all after I’m done renovation. It has been hell.on.earth.
We have painted the front room, painted the inside of my antique corner cupboard, packed and moved tons of boxes, reorganized my cabinents and have taken off every baseboard in the house to be replaced with new ones.
There is so much to do and the list keeps growing.
Good news:
I have a quasi-functional bathroom.
Since we only have ONE and I am in the suck of the female burden of all time (i.e-The Period from HELL), this is a VERY happy development. The moldy subfloor and sheetrock are gone, the gross and tiny vanity is replaced and we also have a new toilet. The old one was only two years old, but Jonathan shattered it with the sledgehammer while he was breaking apart our cast iron tub, so we had to get a new one. We still have a LOT to do in there, but it is going much faster than I thought it would.
We also have all the linoleum laid down in our kitchen, washroom and pantry.
The contractors were slated for three days of work, but it all got done yesterday. This gives me some time to move boxes and furniture into the kitchen before they come to start replacing all the carpeting on Friday.
I am really pleased with the way the flooring turned out. While I am not a huge fan of linoleum, I really like what we picked and it is cheaper and more practical than the material that would have been my first picks. I’ll see how I like it. ANYTHING is better than the grody white flooring we used to have.
Problem?
Now that my flooring is in, the cabinets (Which I have always hated) look even worse to me, so we’re going to paint those as well. I am so tired and it feels so good to have a new floor that I just want to lay here and chase cars.
Feel free to join me if you like.

Lookin’ good… I’ve steered clear so that a)I would not distract you and bring on Bob/LaRee Wrath, and b)to avoid being asked to help by said Wrath-ers. I really don’t think my head can take it right now. I can’t believe you have lasted this long.
If you re-do a bathroom I think it is inevitable that the toilet gets broken. It happened to my parents, too. It was the only thing in the bathroom they were going to keep and my mom dropped something on it and broke the tank. “Oops. Guess we’re getting a new one of those.”
there is something fundamentally wrong with the glaring fact that you have a clean an organized laundry room. I must commence with the hating of you now.
Are you in jammies? Say it isn’t so!
We were up last weekend and Nooncy simply had to cruise by to see the craziness from the outside. She wasn’t disappointed and laughed hysterically at your plight.
I would rather deal with my cancer than your home remodeling. That’s how scary it looked.

Looks awesome! Have you found cool Chocolate colored towels yet??? Don’t get white–they never look crisp and clean!
Man! I LOVE that kitchen and laundry area! I wouldn’t touch the cabinets, by the way…
Just a thought, but if you are moving in the near future, why all the remodeling?
not to sound bizarre, but your husband and my boyfriend look so much alike… every time you post a picture of him it freaks me out! are you sure he doesn’t have any relatives in VA?
I’m way behind on reading…or I missed something. I will catch up and comment intelligently, I promise.
Your niece is beautiful; your husband is funny; you are blessed.
Yay! Ok, so we are all coming over to help you guys finish the bathroom! I am bringing my master carpenter FIL to do your cabinets!
Ok, that was mean to kid. I would love to come and help, though. My dad was a builder (one who actually did a lot of it his self) so I know some stuff!
That has to be the best looking linolium (sp?) I have ever seen- I like it!
I think what you need is a pajama party! Everyone wear their cutest pjs and camp out of Loralee’s new linolium!
Oh, and I have these great camel colored towels (those that didn’t get bleached by my DH)- that color might look good in the new bathroom- what IS your color scheme? Oh, or make me super jealous and go with RED!!! That would be so awesome!
Chelly-I SO do not blame you!
Hairy(I really like calling you that too much)-I was actually glad. You of all people know how hard the water is in Cache Valley and my toilet had calcium buildup that was driving me crazy, so starting anew is cool.
Heather-I am going to post pics to show you the REAL story. My laundry “Area” (Meaning the hall outside my bedroom is usually in a state of clothing chaos.
Bridgy-I know…TOTALLY out of the ordinary. Heh.
Linny-HA HA HA HA HA! You crack my up. Yes, it really IS that bad. I would probably pick cancer, too but I guess you get to be the lucky one in the family, right?
Amy-I can’t think of much right now, but I am going to stay away from white. Chelle has crisp white towels, but she is a laundry goddess and I suck.
Sharon-We are going to move, but probably not for 2-3 years. My floors and bathroom were VILE and needed to be replaced badly. We would have to do it before selling anyway, so why not make it liveable for the last few years?
Seredne-Holy cow! Really? That is so funny. You should get him one of those tiny pink cowboy hats. Totally brings out the color of their eyes! ;)
Penguin-Thanks muchly, sweet lady!
Charli-Thanks for the needed laugh. You can come over and help ANY TIME. Acutally, if you don’t pop over when you are in Idaho this summer I will have to have stern words with you! I rather love the linolium we picked out. I am really curious to see how it wears.
