Oh. My. HELL.
Everyone is moving this week I swear. I have so much going on, I feel like my head is twisting in a million directions. I’m glad my brain hasn’t started oozing out of my nasal cavities.
I helped my brother move to Minnestota. It was a hassle, but I’m glad I did it.
Karen is moving into our basement apartment. I am really glad about it, but there is a LOT to do to get the apartment ready by this weekend. I have moved my husband’s office (And his SUBSTANTIAL amount of computer and geek gear) out of there and we are installing the rest of the kitchen. Jon accidentally cut too large a hole in the counter when they were putting in the sink, so we get to buy a new one tomorrow and start over. YIPPEE. I’m just glad that the counter tops is one sale right now.
I helped Karen a tiny bit, by bringing some of her stuff downstairs, but not as much as I wish I could have. I’m glad she’s understanding about it all.
Jon and I helped move my friend Bryan out of his condo and put all his things in storage. We were glad to help such a good friend, though. Also, Bryan gave me his entire pantry and spice cabinet and VERY cool things from his kitchen. He is a chef, so this is like Christmas for me. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the 12 boxes we hauled home.
My mom told me three days ago that she is replacing all the gross flooring in our house. This is WONDERFUL, but it will be so, so difficult to coordinate, move everything and execute. We have to basically rip out our entire bathroom before any of it can start and they come on January 2nd to start laying new linolium. The bathroom has to be done by then.
I want to cry with everything that is left to be done, but there is a lot to be glad about. At least my computer is functional again and by the second week of January, I will have a bathroom that doesn’t make me want to vomit every time I go in it and flooring I can walk on with bare feet without fear of getting gangrene, hauntevirus or leprosy.
I am also typing in my freshly painted and carpeted office that I share with my husband. We’ll be together a lot more in a lovely space, so that is one more thing to be glad of.
Jonathan’s brother is getting married next week. His brother plays the viola very well and his fiancee is a concert pianist. Since they both come from very talented, musical families, they are having a concert for their reception and Jon has had a lot of cello practice he has been trying to squeeze into this crazy moving and renovating schedule and working two jobs. I am just glad that I am not on the program (So far).
To top it off, both my children have a raging case of stomach flu and have spent turns vomiting on me, my bed, their bed, and every other clean surface in my house. Nifty.
I just realized that I have used the word “Glad” NINE times in this post. I’m beginning to feel like Polyanna, so I will shut the hell up and go to bed. I’ll let you know if I fall out of a tree when I’m sneaking out of my house to go to the town bazaar and get paralyzed . If I do, I want someone to bring me a “Rainbow Maker” to hang up in my window. Oh, and also get me one of those big-ass pieces of chocolate cake that they made for the bazaar. It looks tasty.
I’m just glad this week is almost over.
Oops. Make it ten.
